Adana Metropolitan Municipality's Adana Metro 2nd Stage was not approved by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
CHP Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar and his team prepared the project for the 2nd Stage of the metro, which is currently on a single line and is insufficient to meet the city transportation in Adana. The preparation process of the project was carried out together with the Presidency Strategy and Budget Department and Treasury bureaucrats.

While waiting for the approval of the 2nd Stage project, which will ease the urban traffic in Adana, it was learned that the Adana 2022nd Stage Light Rail System (HRS) project was not included in this program, with the publication of the President's Decision regarding the 2 investment program in the Official Gazette.
“We do not know why it was not approved”
Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar stated that they were disappointed that the 2nd Stage of the Metro was not approved by the Presidency and said, “Adana traffic cannot be solved without the metro. This Phase 2 needs to be done. We expected our Presidency to approve this, but it was not approved. We do not know why it was not approved, we will find out, if we have a deficiency, we will make up for it. This is not my issue, it is the whole Adana's issue. We will send it for approval again,” he said.
