According to the decision published in the Official Gazette; Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül asked for his pardon. Bekir Bozdag was appointed to the seat vacated by Gul.

Along with the statement made in the Official Gazette, the former Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül made a statement on Twitter. The description is as follows:

With the approval of our Honorable President, I have resigned from my duty as the Ministry of Justice, which I have been serving since 19 July 2017. I would like to express my gratitude to them for accepting my request for pardon and wish success to our new Minister of Justice, Mr. Bekir Bozdağ.

Who is Bekir Bozdag?

He was born on April 1, 1965 in Yozgat Akdağmadeni. His father's name is Mehmet Duran and his mother's name is Nuriye. He graduated from Uludag University, Faculty of Theology. He completed his master's degree in the History of Religions at Uludag University, Institute of Social Sciences. Later, he graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Law. After serving in public for a while, he worked as a freelance lawyer. Bozdağ, who was FP's Akdağmadeni Mayor Candidate in the 18 April 1999 elections, was elected to the FP Yozgat Provincial Administration and served as the Provincial Vice President for Political and Legal Affairs. (1999-2001) Bozdağ took part in the AK Party Yozgat Founding Provincial Administration. He served as the Provincial Vice President for Political and Legal Affairs. (2001-2002)

He was elected as a Member of Parliament for Yozgat in the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 26th terms. He served as a member of the Justice Commission (2002-2007), Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Grand National Assembly of Turkey (2007-2011), Deputy Prime Minister in the 61st Government (2011-2013), and Minister of Justice in the 61st and 62nd Governments (2013-2015). He served as Provincial Organization Coordinator, 12th Regional Organization Coordinator, MKYK member and AK Party Deputy Chairman of Election Affairs in different provinces at the AK Party Headquarters. Bozdag, who speaks English and Arabic at an intermediate level, is married and has 3 children.

He is the AK Party 24th Term Deputy Candidate in the June 2018, 27 General Elections.
