The high-speed train line, which will reduce the journey between Konya and Karaman to 40 minutes, opens today. President Erdogan will also participate in the first expedition from Konya to Karaman. Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line will be put into service by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
With the opening of the line, 63 million liras will be saved annually
President Erdogan will also participate in the first expedition from Konya to Karaman. Within the scope of the 102-kilometer line, 74 bridges and culverts, 39 crossings and 17 pedestrian crossings were built. The project, which will accelerate freight and passenger transportation, will bring many advantages.
With the commissioning of the Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line, the travel time between the two provinces will decrease from 1 hour and 20 minutes to 50 minutes at the first stage and to 40 minutes at the end. Ankara-Konya-Karaman travel time will also be reduced from 3 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes.
In this way, 10 million liras will be saved annually, 39,6 million liras from time, 3,9 million liras from energy, 4,5 million liras from accident prevention, 5 million liras from emission savings and 63 million liras from maintenance savings. In addition, 25 thousand 340 tons less carbon emissions will occur.
When the line, which will continue in the direction of Mersin and Adana, is completed, a high-speed train connection will be established between the Marmara, Central Anatolia and the Mediterranean regions.
Works in progress in Karaman-Ulukışla section as well
Work continues in the Karaman-Ulukışla section as well. Within the scope of the project, it is planned to construct 135 tunnels, 2 bridges, 12 under-overpasses and 44 culverts with the construction of a 141-kilometer-long new railway line.
So far, 89 percent physical progress has been achieved in infrastructure and superstructure works. Design studies for signaling are also continuing.
Tender preparations continue for the tender for electrification works. With the completion of the Karaman-Ulukışla section, the travel time between these places will be reduced from 3 hours 40 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes.
