Suggestions from CHP to Relieve Drivers

Republican People's Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi demanded that vehicle inspection periods be increased from 2 to 3 years and that inspection fees be reduced, and said, “Inspection fees are one of the most frequently complained about by drivers. These numbers need to be lowered. In addition, the inspection period for cars up to 10 years old should be increased from 2 to 3 years, and our citizens should be relieved both financially and morally.

Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, Deputy Chairman of the CHP responsible for Public Relations, Health, Culture and Arts, stated that the inspection period of the cars, which is every 2918 years after the first inspection, should be increased to 2 years, according to the Regulation on the Opening, Operation and Vehicle Inspection of Vehicle Inspection Stations enacted within the scope of the Highway Traffic Law No. 3. “Experts state that it is okay to have vehicles up to the age of 10 inspected every 2 years instead of 3, with the developing technology. The excess of inspection fees also bends the back of our citizens. From here, I call on the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu. It is possible to extend the 3-year inspection requirement for tractors as well for vehicles. Inspection fees are also very high and these should also be reduced.”

By 2022, everything from fuel to bridges, roads, fines, taxes is at a high cost.

Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, the Deputy Chairman, who stated that the vehicle owners are struggling more and more each day because of the government that raises the fuel price while the dollar is falling, which does not reflect the discount in fuel oil, said, “While the dollar was increasing, the hikes reflected in the fuel prices were not reflected as a discount while the dollar was decreasing. While the dollar was the same, diesel and gasoline were increased by 1,29 lira each. Not to mention the increase in bridges, highways, taxes and fines. Citizen continues to fill his tank very expensively. At least, the inspection times should be increased, the wages should be reduced so that the drivers could breathe a little bit," he said.

CHP's Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, who also brought the issue to the Parliament's Agenda, asked the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, "Is there a study carried out by your Ministry to reduce the examination fees, which is one of the most common complaints of citizens?

Does it consider extending the inspection period of private and official cars and two or three-wheeled vehicles to once every 14 years, as in rubber-wheeled tractors, as specified in Article 3 of the Regulation on the Opening, Operation and Vehicle Inspection of Vehicle Inspection Stations? Due to the developing technology, is there a study being carried out to increase the inspection requirement for vehicles up to 10 years old every 3 years? posed the questions.
