Passengers staying at the Greater Istanbul Bus Station due to heavy snowfall were hosted in the mosque and conference hall of the bus station. While the on-site doctor of the bus station helped those with health problems, all the needs of the passengers were carried out in coordination with the IMM, District Governorship, Red Crescent, Police and all public institutions.

The expected snowfall for days took Istanbul captive. The blizzard that came with the snow caused intercity flights and bus services to be suspended. On the night of Sunday, January 23, when the roads were closed due to snow, a total of 200 people stayed at the Greater Istanbul Bus Station, while 750 people stayed on Monday and 450 people on Tuesday.

Fahrettin Beşli, the Operations Manager of the Greater Istanbul Bus Station, who announced that the flights from the bus stations in Istanbul have started as of today, said that they have been helping the passengers who have been on the road for three days in cooperation with all public institutions. Fahrettin Beşli explained the assistance provided to the passengers as follows: “Our workplace doctor helped our guests with health problems. Blood pressure is measured and medicines are provided to those who need medicine. We regularly distribute rations consisting of soup, tea and sandwiches to passengers. We have organized activities so that our children will not be bored while they are waiting. Some passengers who saw this helped the work by saying that we want to help while they wait.”

Emphasizing that they helped the citizens staying at the bus station with the cooperation of the IMM, the district governorship, the police and the police, Fahrettin Beşli said, “We worked in coordination with the District Governorship and AFAD to accommodate 35 people who could not stay at the bus station due to health reasons on Sunday night, in the IMM and public guesthouses.”

Emphasizing that they are experiencing one of the best examples of public-IBB cooperation, Fahrettin Beşli, the Operations Manager of the Greater Istanbul Bus Station, emphasized that travel companies also offer treats to passengers in the waiting rooms.
