Mehmetçik Continues Fight Against Terrorism at Minus 39 Degrees

Despite the harsh weather and terrain conditions, the fight against terrorism continues with determination and at an increasing pace.

As of January 1, a total of 25 terrorists, 147 in northern Iraq and 172 in northern Syria, were neutralized in the operations carried out with the understanding of "where the terrorist is, that is the target".

During the said process, 25 air operations were carried out with aircraft and SİHAs affiliated to our Air Force Command, and many targets belonging to the terrorist organization were destroyed.

Last year, 397 terrorists were neutralized in 2 operations.

TEMPERATURES UNDER ZERO

However, while the cold weather is effective throughout the country, the struggle of Mehmetçik in difficult weather and terrain conditions continues.

Elements of the Turkish Armed Forces continue their homeland watch under snow and sub-zero temperatures in many base areas at an altitude of thousands of meters.

Nighttime temperatures dropped below minus 488 degrees in 20 of the domestic and cross-border base areas affiliated to our Land Forces Command. Again, in many of these base areas, the snow depth exceeded 5 meters.

While the temperature was measured as minus 39 last night in the Misolok base area in the north of Iraq, the snow thickness reached 7 meters.

With the preparations made, Mehmetçik continues its activities uninterruptedly against difficult weather and terrain conditions. Mehmetçik carries out regular patrols and ambush/listening activities in the regions where it is located, and continues its operations at an increasing pace.
