Welcoming the delegation from Izmir, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım requested the support of business world representatives to continue the projects without interruption and to identify and convey the problems. Minister Pakdemirli listened to the requests from the committees within İZTO and EBSO during the visit where the situation assessment regarding the Agricultural Organized Industrial Zones was made. During the visit, where the details of the Kemalpaşa Logistics Center Project, carried out in cooperation with İZTO and EBSO, were discussed, Minister Muş decided to establish a working group regarding the Center. During the visit of Minister Nabati, which was held as the TOBB Board of Directors, developments regarding the economy were evaluated.

İZTO Chairman of the Board Mahmut Özgener and EBSO Chairman of the Board Ender Yorgancılar, together with the TOBB Board of Directors under the chairmanship of TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the Minister of Treasury and Finance Dr. He also attended Nureddin Nebati's visit.

REQUESTS FROM COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN SUPPLIED

İzmir Deputy Mahmut Atilla Kaya, İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, İzmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO) Chairman Mahmut Özgener, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO) Chairman Ender Yorgancılar, İZTO Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Cemal Elmasoğlu and EBSO Assembly Member Erol Diren shared the demands of the Izmir business world with the ministers in Ankara. The delegation, which first visited the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, conveyed the requests from the members. A situation assessment was made with Minister Pakdemirli regarding Agricultural Organized Industrial Zones. The delegation conveyed that 80 percent occupancy rates in the greenhouse and 100 percent in the industry were achieved from the parcels allocated in Dikili Greenhouse Agriculture-Based Specialized OIZ, and thanked Minister Pakdemirli for the support he has given since the beginning of the process.

WORKING GROUP IS ESTABLISHED FOR KEMALPAŞA

During the meeting with the Minister of Commerce Mehmet Muş, an important step was taken regarding Kemalpaşa Logistics Center, which is one of the most important projects that will accelerate İzmir. With the approval of Minister Muş, a working group consisting of Deputy Minister of Commerce Rıza Tuna Turagay, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Deputy General Manager of Infrastructure Investments Serdar Ünsal, İZTO Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Cemal Elmasoğlu and EBSO Assembly Member Erol Diren was established. It was decided that the working group would prepare quickly for the establishment of the company, the operating model, the transfer of the place and the creation of the business plans for the investment to be made.

During the visit of Minister Nabati, which was held as the TOBB Board of Directors, developments regarding the economy were evaluated.

KUR GUARANTEED EXPORT REQUEST

Some of the other topics that the Izmir delegation conveyed to 3 ministers were as follows: Abolition of the special consumption tax on nectar, preparation of 2 separate incentive packages for manufacturers-exporters and employment, initiatives for İZTO and EBSO members to get low-interest loans like those who are members of chambers of tradesmen. In addition, it was stated that the application, which was put into effect by the Central Bank on January 3, 2022 and obliges the sale of 25 percent of export prices to the Central Bank through banks, may cause problems for exporters. It was stated that especially companies that export based on imports may be adversely affected by the costs arising from the purchase and sale of foreign currency and fluctuations in the exchange rate, and that the aforementioned application should be abandoned in order to eliminate all possible negative effects, or that the exporters should be given exchange rate guarantee for their future foreign exchange needs. In addition, support was requested for facilitating Eximbank support conditions.

Having a very productive meeting with Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, the delegation shared all the problems and solution suggestions regarding the Turkish agenda. The Prime Minister was informed about the projects related to Izmir and views were exchanged. Listening carefully to all demands, Prime Minister Yıldırım asked for the support of business world representatives to continue the projects without interruption and to identify and convey the problems. Yıldırım said, “This country belongs to all of us. We all need each other. We are ready to do everything we can,” he said. The Presidents thanked Prime Minister Yıldırım for his contributions and support to all the projects developed for İzmir, especially the Kemalpaşa Logistics Center.
