Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to carry out exemplary savings-oriented studies in Turkey by preventing food waste.

Continuing to stand by stray animals with the understanding of “every life is valuable in the Capital”, the Metropolitan Municipality broke new ground in Turkey and pressed the button for food production with a daily capacity of 3 tons.

The Department of Health Affairs started to produce food in the facility it established in the Sincan Temporary Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center by recycling the surplus foodstuffs.

ABB WILL PRODUCE ITS OWN FOOD TO SAVE 3,5 MILLION TL A YEAR

The food obtained at the facility, which started to operate with a daily production capacity of 1 ton at the first stage, will be used for feeding stray animals in the Capital.

It is aimed to save 3,5 million TL per year thanks to the food produced by the Department of Health Affairs from the recycling of food.

ASLAN: “ONE OF THE BIGGEST FOOD PRODUCTION PROJECTS IN TURKEY”

Stating that they have implemented one of the biggest food production projects in Turkey with a daily production capacity of 3 tons, Head of Health Affairs Department Seyfettin Aslan made the following statements:

“Restaurant leftovers are always on the agenda in the nutrition of street animals, but it is not always possible to mix the food collected in practice and to separate objects such as plastic forks, knives, toothpicks and butts from the food. For this reason, it is important to evaluate the surplus food, which is called the bottom of the cauldron, in large institutions and organizations. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we have established this facility in order to evaluate the food residues at the bottom of the cauldron. At the same time, we cooperate with Halk Bread Factory to collect non-standard breads and dry breads that cannot be sold. In the first stage, we started trial production with 1 ton per day. Thanks to our own food production, we will save 3,5 million TL annually and use this amount to meet other needs of street animals.”

CALL FOR RESTAURANTS, CAFE, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS AND FOOD FACTORIES

Calling all private and public institutions and organizations, from restaurants to cafes, and factories producing food, to give food waste to the Metropolitan Municipality, Aslan said:

“There are many private and public institutions and organizations in Ankara. If these institutions and organizations give us the food residues from the bottom of the pot, we will turn them into food and use them for the feeding of stray animals. Organizations that want to give their surplus food can contact the Metropolitan Municipality.
