Within the scope of the measures to combat the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, the Touristic Eastern Express, which took a break on March 2020 and started its flights again on December 15, 2021, arrived in Kars.

The Touristic Eastern Express passengers, sent off from Ankara Station by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and accompanied to Elmadağ, are in the Caucasus in Kars, the last stop after a 3-hour journey with a 33-hour stop in Erzincan, İliç and Erzurum. was greeted with a folk dance performance.

The passengers of the Touristic Eastern Express, operated by the General Directorate of TCDD Transportation, stated that they were very happy and excited when the train, which had to take a break from the travel route due to the pandemic, is back on the rails. Passengers invited everyone who has the opportunity to travel on the Touristic Eastern Express on the Ankara-Kars route, which is shown among the four most beautiful routes in the world, and stated that this wonderful journey they have completed should be added to the list of things to do before they die.

On the Kars - Ankara route, the Touristic Eastern Express will reach Ankara by stopping for approximately 2 hours in Sivas-Divriği and Bostankaya.
