Fire Station was opened in ITOB, located in Tekeli District of Menderes. The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of İzmir, Yavuz Selim Köşger, and the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Speaking at the ceremony, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç SoyerStating that he closely followed the successful work of the ITOB administration, he said, “Izmir industry is undoubtedly one of the main sectors that increase the prosperity of our city. For this reason, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality stands behind İzmir industry, industrialists and thousands of laborers working in these facilities with all its institutional capacity and authority.”
Protection to meander forests
Mentioning the importance of the facility, which was realized within the scope of the protocol they signed with the organized industrial zones, Soyer said: “We are working in partnership with our industrialists to grow our industry. The opening we made today is one of the most concrete steps of the importance we attach to İzmir industry. Five organized industrial zones within the borders of İzmir; This is why the İTOB Organized Industrial Zone Fire Station, the first of the protocols we signed with İTOB, ALOSBİ, İZBAŞ, KOSBİ and PANCAR, has a special meaning. As included in Izmir's 2020-2024 Strategic Plan, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is expanding the fire stations to reduce the fire response time, which is less than 6 minutes on average, to five minutes. It invests in technical equipment and qualified manpower. We fully believe that this project, which we have implemented jointly with ITOB, will make the region more resilient against many disasters. Our fire department here will ensure disaster and fire safety of many settlements in Menderes, especially ITOB. The location of our station is also critical for responding to fires that may occur in the forests of Menderes.”

Mayor Soyer, who also thanked the firefighters in his speech, said, “The visible side of a building is its stones. What sustains it is the invisible mortar inside. I know very well that our firefighters are the mortar of our city. On the occasion of this meeting, I embrace each of them one by one and congratulate them wholeheartedly.”

39 million 300 thousand lira investment
İTOB Organized Industrial Zone Fire Station, which was realized within the scope of the protocol signed between İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and İTOB Organized Industrial Zone, was built on an area of 5 thousand square meters. The Metropolitan Municipality spent 300 thousand liras for the interior equipment of the building built by ITOB. Three fire trucks, worth approximately 39 million lira, were located in the industrial zone. 80 personnel who graduated from firefighting school and vocational high school were recruited. The said personnel will be employed in organized industrial sites. Firefighter officer personnel recruitment will continue in 2022.
