Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, the 8th largest airport in Europe, continues its investments in digital transformation without slowing down. Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport has implemented the Xovis PTS (Passenger Tracking System) project, which provides crowd management in cooperation with Dubai Technology Partners (DTP) and Xovis, in order to plan the operations within the terminal and meet passenger needs quickly.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which completed 2020 in the 8th place and rose to the position of the 2021th busiest airport in Europe in the first 7 months of 4 according to CAPA data, has added a new one to its investments that provide more comfort and time to its passengers by using digital solutions in its operational processes. Developing the Xovis PTS project together with Dubai Technology Partners (DTP) and Xovis, OHS will enable airport teams to access real-time data via artificial intelligence-enabled sensors for better control and planning of their operations.

Within the scope of the Xovis PTS project, 184 sensors with artificial intelligence technology placed at the terminal entrances, common areas and halls, as well as indoor and outdoor passenger areas, accurately capture passenger locations and provide real-time data flow to airport teams. Thanks to these data, which facilitates the management of the crowd, ISG teams can produce necessary solutions in areas with high passenger density and can plan their operations in advance before the congestion occurs. It can also analyze efficiency and adherence to service level agreements using historical data.

ISG CEO Berk Albayrak, who stated that they continue to work to provide the best experience to their passengers by integrating advanced technology into their operational processes, said, “As Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, we continue to strengthen our world-class service with new investments. Finally, we implemented the Xovis PTS project, which will benefit both our passengers and airport teams, in cooperation with Dubai Technology Partners (DTP) and Xovis. With artificial intelligence technology sensors placed all over the airport, we can easily manage the passenger flow in the terminal. We make our operations more efficient with the data flow provided to our teams in real time. With this technology, where we save time for our passengers by reducing their waiting times, we can produce fast solutions in terms of compliance with social distance regulations, in addition to our strictly implemented measures, especially during the pandemic period.

DTP General Manager Abdul Razzak Mikati said, “We are happy to be a part of the digital transformation of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. We implemented this important project by using our experience and abilities to help Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport reach its key performance indicators and to take the necessary measures in time for the difficulties that may arise in the passenger flow.”

Andreas Fähndrich, CEO of Xovis, said, “With the project, it is aimed to increase customer satisfaction by displaying live waiting times on the screens at the entrances, ensuring a balanced passenger flow between the entrances, through data flow. Passengers can track their waiting times through screens showing the occupancy levels at the toilet entrances. This technology can automatically and accurately detect crowded areas at the airport.”
