A new high-speed train line, reaching the foothills of the Changbai Mountains in northeastern China's Jilin province, began actual operation on Friday, December 24, 2021. High-speed train numbered G9127 started its maiden voyage on this railway line at 7.35 am, departing from the station in the provincial capital Changchun in the direction of Changbaishan station (Changbai Mountains).

The high-speed train will take passengers from Changchun to the newly built Changbaishan station, 300 kilometers away, in just 2 hours and 18 minutes. With a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the train shortens the journey time between Beijing and the Changbai Mountains to eight hours.

On the other hand, Changbaishan high-speed train station has a pretty impressive sight. Ancient gigantic forests can be seen from the waiting room. Located in southeast Jilin province, the Changbai Mountain resort is known for its stunningly impressive Tianchi Crater Lake, prehistoric forests, and a number of famous ski slopes. The region was visited by 700 thousand tourists last year.

Geng Deyong, one of the officials of the Changbai Mountain Conservation and Development Management Committee, said that the new high-speed train line will attract a large number of tourists, and their expectations are 10 million tourists per year.
