The airport can be located on the aircraft movement area (Runway, Apron and Taxiway); rubber piece, stone, sand, pet bottles, paper, soft drink cans, newspaper/magazine pieces, cloth/cloth/rubber pieces, bags etc. Foreign materials that may adversely affect flight safety are defined as "Foreign Matter Spill" (FOD). In order to prevent problems that may arise from these substances, the aircraft movement area is meticulously checked and cleaned at regular intervals by airport personnel.
In order to raise awareness of FOD and aviation incidents that it may cause, and to raise awareness of airport personnel, the 19 “FOD Walk” event was held at the airports by complying with the COVID-2021 measures.
After the FOD awareness walk, the opinions, suggestions and feedbacks received from the participants are evaluated and mutual interaction is ensured. Considering the positive effects it has on flight safety awareness, the event is planned to be held regularly every year.
