Emirates Named Worldwide Airline

Emirates was named Worldwide Airline in the APEX Official Airline Ratings™ awards, making it one of the first airlines to receive this award in this new award category, which tops all APEX Passenger Choice awards. In addition, Emirates was once again named a Five Star Airline by APEX and was awarded the APEX Passenger Choice Award® Best Entertainment for the fourth time this year at the APEX/IFSA Awards Ceremony, the industry's largest physically attended event.

Developed with Yates and Partners, the new “World Class Airline” award is unique in that it takes into account not only the airline's services and products, but also its health and safety and sustainability efforts, and reflects today's passenger expectations and key areas of focus for the airline industry.

As with all APEX awards, the “Worldwide Airline” award is based on the independently verified and audited scores of more than one million passengers.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said: “This award, which I am honored and greatly valued, honors the outstanding work of the Emirates team around the world, which has enabled us to become the new pinnacle APEX Worldwide Airline. This award is the result of the unwavering energy of Emirates employees to ensure safe travels, promote sustainability initiatives and deliver the highest standards of service. I believe the race to become World Wide will play a crucial role in our industry and will help us focus more on sustainability for a better world. On behalf of all members of the Emirates family, we are proud to be one of the first airlines to be included in the APEX Worldwide category.”

Joe Leader, APEX Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement: “Emirates' continuous innovation in terms of passenger experience permeates all of its work. Exceptional service, leading IFEC solutions, excellent health and safety practices and orders for new fuel efficient aircraft underline the values we hold dear at Emirates, an APEX Worldwide Airline.

The use of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft has always been at the heart of Emirates' business model and the airline's continued multi-billion dollar investment in passenger comfort and its commitment to reduce environmental impact. Emirates also has a comprehensive fuel efficiency program that is actively exploring and implementing ways to reduce fuel consumption and emissions where operationally feasible. At the recent Dubai Air Show, the airline signed an agreement with GE Aviation to develop a program in which an Emirates Boeing 90-777ER with GE300 engines will test-fly using 100% Sustainable Aircraft Fuel (SAF). Emirates is also proud to be a member of the Clean Skies for Tomorrow coalition established by the World Economic Forum.

Emirates has led the industry with many initiatives to improve travel confidence to travelers amid the pandemic. As such, it became the first airline to offer free COVID-19 health insurance to all passengers, streamlined returns processes, offered generous cancellation and reservation renewal policies, and helped passenger loyalty program members maintain their status and miles. In addition to advanced hygiene protocols, Emirates has implemented several priorities to improve health and safety and facilitate travel for passengers. In line with these priorities, it became the first airline to become a member to roll out the IATA Travel Pass across its global flight network, accelerating the deployment of advanced biometric technology in its headquarters in Dubai for seamless transactions and a contactless airport experience.

Emirates' services and products continue to attract passengers, while offering excellent experiences to passengers in all cabin classes. The airline announced last month that it has made a significant investment in its hardware upgrade program. As part of the program, 105 of the airline's modern wide-body aircraft will be equipped with the latest Premium Economy product, which has gained immense popularity since its first launch in January 2020.

From the industry-first fully enclosed private suites of the Boeing 777 Gamechanger to the iconic Shower Spa and Lounges on the Emirates A380, Emirates passengers travel with the best benefits at 40 feet above the ground. Emirates' ice inflight entertainment system offers passengers in all cabin classes a choice of more than 4500 channels, from blockbusters to popular TV shows and documentaries. For a personalized experience, passengers can also create their own music playlists from the pre-flight Emirates app and sync it to the ice system when they board the plane. Emirates' award-winning in-flight menu, on the other hand, offers delicacies to suit every palate to passengers traveling from more than 120 cities across six continents.

APEX Official Airline Ratings™ is the world's first rating program to rate airlines based on fully approved passenger feedback. Under this program, airlines are divided into four categories: Global Airlines, Major Airlines, Regional Airlines, and Low-Cost Carriers. Thanks to the partnership with TripIt®, the world's highest rated travel organization application by Concur®, the award category is based on unbiased passenger feedback, which is a first in the industry. More than one million flight networks performed by nearly 600 airlines worldwide are rated by passengers and independently verified by an external professional auditing firm.
