In the 6th Battery Technologies Workshop organized by ASPİLSAN Energy, energy solutions were discussed within the framework of technological developments in the world and climate change. Informative panels on domestic and national battery cells that will reduce foreign dependency brought together important representatives of leading institutions in the sector and academics from leading universities.

At the 6th Battery Technologies Workshop, “energy solutions within the framework of technological developments and global climate change”, “developments in battery technology and solutions for increasing battery needs, especially e-mobility”, “Domestic and national battery production in Turkey and raw materials in battery production. Twelve separate panels were held under three main themes, namely “material supply”.

Making a statement regarding the battery technologies workshop organized by ASPİLSAN Energy for the sixth time, ASPİLSAN Energy General Manager Ferhat Özsoy said: “Battery technologies have become an integral part of our lives in the world we live in. In this context, we, as ASPİLSAN Energy, an organization of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, have been carrying out our activities to ensure that our country can achieve its technology and renewable energy targets since its establishment.

We Work for the Future of Clean Energy

Today, most of the world's energy needs are met by fossil fuels. Harmful gases caused by the use of fossil fuels cause environmental problems such as global warming, climate change, air pollution and greenhouse effect. In addition, since fossil fuel reserves are limited, these reserves are rapidly depleted with the increasing energy demand.

ASPİLSAN Energy is a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, which includes companies/universities/research institutes in Europe that are committed to carbon-free climate targets for 2050. In this context; As ASPİLSAN Energy, within the hydrogen ecosystem; We operate with our Istanbul R&D Unit on the production (electrolyser) and consumption (fuel cells) of clean (green) hydrogen. We continue our work uninterruptedly in order to offer solutions to the green hydrogen conversion in our country.

ASPİLSAN Energy in Today's and Future's Technology

The battery sector is in a position that covers a wide sector ranging from mobile phones to robotic systems to electric vehicles. In order to reduce carbon emissions, the solution of directing energy production to renewable sources is sustainable, is to store energy. Considering that we make electrochemical storages with batteries, the importance of batteries in this context increases even more.

As ASPİLSAN Energy, we carry out very important studies in order to develop battery technologies in our country and reduce our foreign dependency, with the efforts of Turkish engineers with domestic and national resources, with the studies we carry out in our four separate R&D centers in Kayseri, Ankara, Istanbul and Edirne.

I can say that our industry will achieve significant gains with the valuable outputs that will emerge from the battery technologies workshop, which we organized for the sixth time.

We Will Reduce External Dependency

As ASPİLSAN Energy, while meeting the needs of both the defense industry and the private sector with Turkey's and Europe's first cylindrical lithium production facility, which will start mass production in 2022, we will continue to work on the development of battery cells of different types, sizes and technologies in the future. Thanks to this facility, we aim to acquire all the necessary knowledge in order to develop original batteries and establish a similar facility, as well as battery production capability. The strategic thing here is that we can respond to today's latest battery technology using our own talent.

Having technology will enable our country to have a say in this field by following the future developments. We would like to express our gratitude to our valuable stakeholders in the ecosystem who participated and supported the battery technologies workshop that we have been organizing for six years with this goal.”
