In today's world, where rapid change is experienced in every field, companies want to increase their own welfare and in this context, they struggle to climb to the top of the economy. The main element of this struggle and the basis of development are undoubtedly highly trained institutions that can produce technology and have knowledge. Universities and industry have important duties to have knowledge and to transform this knowledge into technology production. Within the scope of university-industry cooperation, he has been in contact with universities in order to train manpower with the qualifications needed by the industry, with high application and skill competence, and to create employment-oriented policies. EGİAD Aegean Young Businessmen Association hosted Manisa Celal Bayar University. The business organization, which held a webinar with the officials of Manisa Technopark, MCBÜ DEFAM and Project Coordination Application and Research Center, listened to the activities of Manisa Celal Bayar University in University-Industry Cooperation.
The main task of universities is to provide education and training services on the one hand, and to serve science by researching in basic and applied fields on the other hand. The main purpose of research is to produce knowledge and add new ones to existing knowledge. Most of the research carried out by universities is basic research, and some of it is applied research. Practical solutions are brought to the problems of the industry through applied research. In other words, universities, on the one hand, train the Research and Development (R&D) personnel needed by the industry with their educational activities, and on the other hand, they try to produce information in the fields that the industry will need by doing research. In this context, it sees universities as an important branch of industry. EGİAD, cooperates with higher education institutions in the Aegean Region in order to support the technology development of its members and to contribute to the qualified employment power. In this context, a protocol has been signed with Manisa Celal Bayar University recently. EGİAD, Advisor to the Rector Assoc. At the meeting, EGİAD Deputy Chairman Kaan Özhelvacı started his speech by stating that the development of countries is possible with industry. Pointing out that the partnerships made in the context of technology and innovation have a strategic place in the practices focused on university and industry cooperation in the world, Özhelvacı said, “We have all seen that life and commerce have accelerated and evolved into a variable period, especially with the rapidly increasing digitalization during the pandemic period. In this sense, we foresee that our future will be shaped by the vision and habits of the new generation, and EGİAD We are planning our work in this direction.” Emphasizing that Technology Transfer Offices and Technopolises have a special place in the ecosystem of R&D, innovation and technological transformation in Turkey, Özhelvacı said, “Technocity; universities, research institutions and industrial organizations continue their research, development and innovation studies in the same environment, produce value-added products, and transfer information and technology among each other; They are organized research and business centers where academic, economic and social structure is integrated. Between TTOs, universities, research centers, the private sector; By positioning itself between researchers and entrepreneurs, it tries to provide necessary and needed connections with investors and industrialists. TTOs, which bring industrialists and investors together with researchers and are pioneers in transferring know-how to the industry, provide information, coordination, directing research, encouraging the establishment of new R&D companies, developing cooperation, protecting intellectual property rights, marketing, selling, protecting intellectual property. It also operates in the management of revenues from its sales. In this direction, the development of technologies, the commercialization of the developed technologies, the support of entrepreneurs and the provision of financing are all important separately, and it is our duty to evaluate them as a whole.” Özhelvacı stated that the change and transformation in the ecosystem should be closely monitored in order to create, protect and develop competitive power. EGİAD He noted that they believe it is very important to strengthen the ecosystem in order to determine the future of the market in the field of technology.
Rector's Advisor Assoc. Dr. Umut Burak Geyikçi stated that they have adopted a workplace-oriented education system and that graduates can be employed immediately in this way. MCBÜ DEFAM Experimental Science Application and Research Center Director Prof. Süleyman Koçak introduced DEFAM, which was established in 2011 with the support of the Ministry of Development. Manisa Technopark General Manager Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aktaş, on the other hand, conveyed the fields of activity of the Technology Development Zone. Noting that Teknokent had a turnover of 2018 Million TL in 98, Aktaş stated that this figure reached 2019 Million TL in 103 and 2020 Million TL in 105. Expressing that there were 2017 TÜBİTAK Projects and 2021 KOSGEB projects between 37 and 29, Aktaş emphasized that in recent years, more technology companies have been involved and noted that there are 114 companies within their structure.
