President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening of the Pirinkayalar Tunnel, which connects Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia to the Eastern Black Sea Region, with a video conference. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the crossings that force drivers, especially in the winter months, will become history and said that the transition time has been reduced from 20 minutes to 5 minutes.

In his speech at the opening of the Pirinkayalar Tunnel, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that during the AK Party governments led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they took the divided road length of Erzurum from 49 kilometers and increased it 12 times to 620 kilometers.

TRANSITIONS WITH INCREASING DANGER IN THE WINTER MONTHS WILL MAKE HISTORY

Noting that they are working intensively on 20 highway projects that are still ongoing throughout the province of Erzurum, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that work continues on 13 different highway projects throughout Artvin. Karaismailoğlu continued his evaluations as follows:

“The Pirinkayalar Tunnel on the Erzurum-Artvin highway will relieve the Pirinkayalar crossing, where the traffic flow is interrupted in severe winter conditions, where there are 22 steep and narrow bends in a difficult topography. In this way, it will be much easier for our brother from Erzurum to reach his brother from the Black Sea region. Crossings that force drivers, especially in the winter months, will become history. Since the region where our project was made is a 1st degree natural protected area, we worked with high environmental sensitivity. Pirinkayalar Tunnel; It is a tunnel project with a tunnel length of 2 meters, a connection road length of 272 meters, and a total length of 70 meters.

TRANSITION TIME WILL BE REDUCED TO 5 MINUTES

Stating that the tunnel shortened the transportation distance on the existing line by 680 meters, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that the transit time decreased from 20 minutes to 5 minutes. Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, "With the launch of our project, we have increased the tunnel length on our highways by 19 in the last 13 years, from 50 kilometers to 639 kilometers." . With our projects, we are increasing the capacity of sea, road and international logistics of the two cities by safely connecting Erzurum, Artvin, Black Sea Coastal Road, Artvin Port, Sarp Border Gate. Our roads, which are indicators of civilization, also add vitality to the production, employment, tourism and trade of the region.

After the opening, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu passed through the tunnel with his car.
