Test drives of the Gaziray Project, which will connect KÜSGET and Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone and will transport hundreds of thousands of people, will begin on December 25.
In Gaziantep, which receives immigration from many parts of Turkey due to the developments in industry and tourism, many projects and studies are carried out to overcome the problems in the field of transportation. Especially in the morning and evening hours, it is aimed to solve the traffic density on the highways due to the transfer of workers between the 6 organized industrial zones in the city and the city center, with the railway line. In this context, with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Metropolitan Municipality launched the GAZİRAY Suburban Project, which has a length of 2017 kilometers, has 25 stations and will connect 16 OIZs and small industrial zones.
THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRAIN SETS CONTINUES
4 percent of the signaling and electrification works of the project, which has been spent intensively for about 42 years and has reached a certain stage, have been completed, and the construction of 8 electric train sets in Sakarya continues.
TO BE DELIVERED BY THE END OF 2023
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that 4 sets of 8 vehicles and 32 electric suburban vehicles in total will be delivered to Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality by the end of 2023. Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “The rail system vehicles produced by our regional directorates of Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Corporation are products that will also meet the needs of the urban rail systems of our big cities. In this context, 4 electric suburban vehicles, 8 sets of 32 vehicles, will be delivered to Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality by the end of 2023. While the works on the Gaziray Project continue, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality stated that the test drives will start on 25 December.
"WE WILL TRANSPORT WITH RENTAL"
Speaking at the 1st Joining Meeting of the Metropolitan Municipality Council in November, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Fatma Şahin, made statements regarding the ongoing Gaziray Project in the city. Stating that the work on the Gaziray Project continues, Şahin said, “Gaziray is very important for the city. Hopefully, by the end of this year, its technical infrastructure will be completed and trial runs will begin. Within six months, serial passenger transport operations will begin. We will carry on with rental transportation until our domestic train sets, which are still in production, are finished.”
