Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu spoke at the opening of the Filyos-5 Bridge; Karabük, which is an important center of attraction in terms of nature tourism with its unique natural beauties, is an important industrial city that played a leading role in the development of our country with the industrial breakthrough in the field of iron and steel in the first years of the Republic. Especially in recent years, mining, energy and industrial activities in the region have gained great importance by developing day by day. Karabük's importance also increases due to its proximity to Zonguldak, the largest port city of the Western Black Sea Region, located on the Black Sea Coastal Road route, which is an important transportation axis in the East-West direction of our country.

GEOMETRIC STANDARD UPGRADED

Noting that they are aware of the importance of each project that will strengthen Karabük's transportation network, Karaismailoğlu said that they attach great importance to raising the road standard, especially connecting Karabük to the surrounding provinces and Filyos Port. "In this context, we demolished and rebuilt the existing Filyos-24 Bridge, which provides the passage of Filyos Stream at the 5th kilometer of Devrek-Zonguldak Junction-Karabuk Road," said Karaismailoğlu and continued his words as follows:

“Our project, which is in the standard of bituminous hot mix coating, is 587 meters long with a 773-meter connection road. We built the Filyos-186 Bridge, which is 13 meters long, 6 meters wide and consists of 5 spans, in the front-drawing simple beam type. With the newly built bridge, we both changed the existing bridge route and increased the geometric standard of the road. One of the most important goals in rebuilding the Filyos-5 Bridge was to maximize road safety and driving comfort between Karabük and Zonguldak. We have achieved this. With the Filyos-5 Bridge, we have already prevented the negative effects of a possible flood in the Filyos Stream. In addition, just as the Filyos Stream adds life to the fields it passes through, every new road built, like rivers, adds life to the employment, production, trade, culture and art life of the places it passes through. The Filyos-5 Bridge will also enable the production resources of Karabük and Zonguldak to reach the domestic and foreign markets more quickly and safely. It will make a great contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of all the settlements in the region.”

WE INVESTED 2,5 BILLION TL IN KARABUK'S TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

Stating that they have invested approximately 2003 billion liras for transportation and communication investments in Karabük since 2.5, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu gave the following information about the investments made:

“While 1993 million TL was spent only on highways between 2002 and 179, we increased this amount to 1187 billion 2 million TL with an increase of 303 percent. While there was only 2003 kilometers of divided roads until 7, we increased it to 116 kilometers. There was no BSK paved road, we covered 168 km of BSK. We made 75 kilometers of single road improvement. We opened 400 single tube tunnels with a length of 5 meters. We built 2 bridges with a length of 390 thousand 39 meters. We carried out 2 thousand 202 kilometers of asphalt work.”
