Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer answered the questions of journalists in the live broadcast of 4 TV channels in Tarsus Youth Camp. Making statements about the metro line project, Mayor Seçer said, “We will put the Mezitli-Train Station line, which is the first stage of Mersin Metro, into the service of Mersinians within a maximum of 4 years.”

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer met with members of Mersin Journalists Association at the 'Nature Camp' event held in Tarsus Youth Camp. President Seçer answered the questions of journalists from Mersin in the special program "Community Talks" broadcast live on Kanal 33, Sun RTV, İçel TV and Koza TV. Stating that they were delayed in services due to their inability to get borrowing authority and getting stuck in bureaucracy, Mayor Seçer said, "If the municipalities are doing the right things, regardless of party, the central government should make our job easier."

On another question about the additional burden brought by the exchange rate increase to the municipality and the Metro tender, Mayor Seçer said, “We wish for a stable economy. The contractor company will not do this for his father's sake. Reasonable, she'll make your wife too. However, due to the fluctuations in exchange rates, our projects are disrupted at the point where the contractor company is also a victim. I hope we do not face such a situation. Because certain items are not affected by price increases in accordance with the tender law. They are being added. The rest of the items do not affect them much, and the first stage of Mersin Metro, which we will lay the foundations of on January 3; We will put the Mezitli-Train Station line into the service of the people of Mersin within 3 years, a maximum of 4 years.”

“We do not see public transport as a commercial activity”

Stating that they carry civilian passengers for 2 liras and 60 cents with Sarı Limon buses, Seçer said, “A total of 167 buses will arrive in 2022. It was bought specially for Tarsus because the roads here are narrow, we bought 9 buses of 67 meters. Our buses have free Wi-Fi. 60 lira 65 cents for the 1-60 age group, 2 TL for teachers. There is no such figure anywhere in Turkey. We do not see public transportation as a commercial activity," he said. President Seçer emphasized that the renewal works of Mersin center and Tarsus Transportation Master Plan continue.
