IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluannounced that the 3 remanufactured stops of the Mecidiyeköy Mahmutbey Metro will be put back into service on 21 December.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Kabataş- The first stage of the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro, the M7 Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro Line, was opened to the service of Istanbulites on October 28, 2020.

The Mecidiyeköy station of the line, which started to be used intensively, was closed to operation on April 7 due to maintenance and repair works. Due to the fact that the defective and incomplete works on the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey line were not completed within the given time, IMM, using its contractual right, applied a series of penal sanctions to the contractor company and closed the line for maintenance and took it into service.

İmamoğlu Announced The Date It Will Be Open Again

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, gave information about the ongoing work on the metro line. İmamoğlu announced that the 3 remanufactured stops of the Mecidiyeköy Mahmutbey Metro will be put into service again on 21 December.

İmamoğlu said, "Since we realized that there was a manufacturing error with a great risk in the part made in 2016, we have solved the problem with serious work."

“It was determined that there were cracks in the truss area of ​​the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro Line, which was built in 2016. Swelling occurred on the rails and the tunnel floor. In the examinations, it was observed that the groundwater exerted pressure on the bottom of the tunnel. IMM took immediate measures and closed the Mecidiyeköy station for use.

A new isolation and drainage system was installed in the truss area, approximately 500 meters from the Mecidiyeköy metro station. A new structural design was prepared for the problem area. Reinforced concrete linings for the entire tunnel were redone.

Scissor and mounted rail laying works have been completed. Finally, on November 15, the signaling system tests were concluded successfully.”

No Additional Payment Made

In addition, it was stated that no additional payment was given by IMM during the re-maintenance and repair process and the responsibility was on the contractor company.

In his previous statement about the metro line, İmamoğlu had said, “We see that this place was not well controlled, well-controlled and the process was unfortunately negative here.”
