Two freight trains collided head-on in the city of Zacatecas, the capital of the Mexican state of Zacatecas with the same name. According to the statement made by the Zacatecas City Civil Defense Agency, 10 wagons loaded with corn were derailed. As a result of the accident, 6 railway employees, including the mechanic, were injured. The injured were taken to the hospital by the emergency teams who came to the scene. It was reported that the injured mechanic's health condition was serious.

While 2 of the derailed wagons crashed into a nearby house, causing damage, the corn loaded in the wagons was also thrown around.

The cause of the accident may be human error

Ministry of Transport and Communications officials are investigating the cause of the accident involving grain-carrying trains. According to the initial information obtained by the authorities, the collision was most likely caused by human error.

The crash was the second train crash in the state in the last 24 hours. In the accident that occurred yesterday, a train of 14 wagons was completely derailed as a result of its malfunction. While property damage occurred in the incident, no one was injured.
