City Tours for University Students Provided with Housing Support in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its support to the young people who come to Izmir to study at the university within the scope of the “Helping Young People” project. Providing housing support to students who set foot in the city in September, the Metropolitan Municipality also enables young people to get to know İzmir with city tours.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality organizes city tours for university students to get to know the city and get used to it. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerhad taken action for university students who had a housing problem. Dormitory facilities available to the Metropolitan Municipality were allocated to university students, private dormitories were rented for university students, and accommodation support was provided to 420 university students. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality also provided education support to 5 thousand families in need living in Izmir for their children studying at the university.

Opportunity to learn the history of Izmir closely

Within the scope of the “İzmir Embraces the Youth” project carried out by the Social Projects Department of the Social Projects Department, under the title of “Young People Travel to İzmir” by the Young İzmir unit, students visit Kadifekale, Historical Elevator, Clock Tower, Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar, Kızlarağası Inn. By visiting Kültürpark and the Istiklal Exhibition, he has the opportunity to learn about the history of Izmir closely.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has organized six trips to date with the participation of 300 young people living in dormitories in different parts of the city such as Tire, Ödemiş, Bayındır, Urla and Çeşme, as well as the central districts of İzmir, will continue the tours twice a month in January. From Selçuk to Bergama

The “Young People Travel Izmir” project was planned in three phases. The first stage of the project, which is planned as the young people to learn about the city center, the second stage covers the northern axis such as Bergama, and the third stage covers historical places on the south axis, where Selçuk-Ephesus is located. Bergama and Selcuk tours will also start in 2022.
