EGO General Directorate is implementing a new application within the scope of environmental and sustainable transportation projects in Başkent. Within the scope of the 'Integrating the Connected Micromobility Infrastructure into Existing Public Transport (MeHUB) Project' signed with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and supported by a 100 percent grant, 60 of the 46 bicycle charging stations were placed at the designated metro entrances in the first place.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring together sustainable environmental transportation projects in the Capital with the citizens of the Capital.

The 'Integration of Connected Micromobility Infrastructure to Existing Public Transport (MEHUB) Project', signed with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), one of the components of the European Union, on September 3, 2021 and supported by a 100 percent grant, will be implemented in Başkent.

EGO General Directorate has placed bicycle charging stations at the metro entrances determined within the scope of the "Integrating Micromobility Infrastructure into Existing Public Transport (MeHUB)" contract in order to reduce automobile use, contribute to reducing carbon emissions, increase bicycle mobility and determine new bicycle path routes.

60 BIKE CHARGING STATION WILL BE ACTIVE

The assembly process of 60 of the 46 bicycle charging stations provided in the first phase of the project has been completed.

EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş, who stated that they carried out the project with a budget of approximately 170 Euros in cooperation with Sabancı University and DUCKT Company, which are among the consortium partners, and examined the stations placed at the metro stops, gave the following information:

“As EGO General Directorate, we are launching another environmentally friendly, sustainable mode of transportation in our Capital. The contract for the project named MEHUB, which aims to integrate the connected micro-mobility infrastructure supported by EIT into the existing public transport, was signed on September 3, 2021. Within the scope of the project, usage data of micro mobility vehicles will be provided, mainly electric bicycles and electric scooters. Obtaining usage data is aimed at optimizing micro-mobility vehicles and pathways. Following the procurement of 25 electric bicycles to be imported from the USA with an EU grant, the use of 60 electric bicycle charging stations will begin. For now, all of the charging stations have arrived and they have been installed at the exits of metro stations in various parts of Ankara. With the usage data of electric bicycles and electric scooters to be obtained from the charging stations, it is aimed to establish the electric bicycle sharing system in our Capital.”

INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF NGOs

EGO General Directorate, which aims to facilitate the life of cyclists; It has completed the installation of a total of 12 charging stations, 8 of which are at Bahçelievler Metro Station, 8 at Batıkent Metro Station, 8 at Kızılay Metro Station, 8 at Koru Metro Station, 2 at National Library Metro Station and 46 at Batıkent Bicycle Campus.

EGO General Directorate, which will carry out the assembly of 14 bicycle charging stations planned to be placed in the Middle East Technical University (METU) Metro Station in a short time, aims to introduce the project by coming together with non-governmental organizations after the supply of 25 electric bicycles for testing, especially the charging stations.
