Hyundai and the European Diving Association (DAN Europe) drew attention to marine pollution by developing a joint social responsibility project, and at the same time took very important steps to leave a cleaner environment for future generations. DAN Europe, an international medical and research organization dedicated to the health and safety of divers, continues its non-profit activities. Having recently completed its first sustainable tour, the organization visited stakeholders in 17 countries with its corporate ambassadors Alana Alvarez and Manuel Bustelo.

Danger at sea

Alvarez and Bustelo, who have been diving for several years, noticed that the marine ecosystem had changed drastically. In this regard, the duo, who contacted the relevant organizations and Hyundai, carried out very important works especially on keeping the seas and oceans clean. Because net fishing, coral bleaching and pollution affecting all countries are not only a global problem anymore, but also pose a great risk to the health of future generations by reducing the number of large marine animals. It is therefore necessary to create a change within the existing network and reconnect with nature to support marine ecosystems.

Hyundai, which has left its mark in recent years with the environmentally friendly new generation cars it produces, goes beyond expanding its electric product range in this direction and continues to reach its goal of progress for humanity. Hyundai started a partnership called “Healthy Seas” with the ocean conservation organization that collects abandoned nets and other waste from the seas, thus collecting more than 2021 tons of waste from the blue waters in 78. Supporting DAN Europe in order to create sustainable products and spread the awareness of the social environment to the masses, Hyundai aims to cooperate both underwater and on land.

The tour lasted 6 months

The “Sustainable Tour” started on June 8, World Oceans Day, and DAN Europe staff first cleaned a beach in Roseto Degli Abruzzi, Italy. The team visited 17 European countries, including Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, for about six months. 's, founders, NGOs and start-ups working with sustainable products. The duo, who traveled approximately 25.000 kilometers to advocate for more sustainable business practices and the environment, chose the Hyundai KONA Electric model, an environmentally friendly car, to fully fit their purpose. Operating with zero emissions throughout this tour, KONA Elektrik provided significant advantages to the DAN Europe team with its low consumption and long range.

Hyundai will continue to maintain its attitude towards the environment and future generations and to support relevant organizations by not only producing cars. In addition, more than 75 percent of its models offered for sale in Europe have an electric version, and Hyundai plans to increase this rate to 2025 percent after 100.
