Baku Metro and Metro Istanbul, which came together in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in June, met in Istanbul this time. A delegation of 10 people headed by Elchin Mammadov, Vice President of Baku Metro, visited Metro Istanbul.

Turkey's largest urban rail system operator, Metro Istanbul, continues its domestic and international contacts for the expansion of R&D, design and consultancy services. After the meeting of Ozgur Soy, General Manager of Metro Istanbul, with Zaur Hüseyinov, President of Baku Metro, and Vüsal Aslanov, Vice President of Azerbaijan Railways, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in June, warm relations continue between the two cities. A delegation of 10 people headed by Baku Metro Vice President Elchin Mammadov visited Metro Istanbul.

Listening to the demands of Baku Metro during the three-day visit, General Manager Özgür Soy shared Metro Istanbul's experience in management and project areas and solution suggestions with the Baku delegation. Negotiations were held between the two companies on cooperation and technology sharing on the signaling and R&D developed by Metro Istanbul.

“The domestic signaling system we developed aroused great interest”

Reminding that they have pioneered the development of rail systems in many large and small cities in Turkey, Özgür Soy said, “We cooperate in terms of projects, consultancy services or just aid. This is not just limited to Turkey. We went to Baku in June and met with the leading names of Baku in rail systems. Now we are very happy to host the Baku Metro delegation in Istanbul. We visited our R&D and Design Center and lines with them and showed our projects and works on site. In addition to our management experience with our 183,5 stations on 16 lines with a length of 189 kilometers; We also told them about our experience in maintenance and repair, project, consultancy and consultancy services. They showed great interest in our Communication-Based Train Control System (CBTC) project, which is a domestic signaling technology that has been imported from abroad until today but that we started to develop as Metro Istanbul. We have informed them about this in detail.

As Metro Istanbul, one of our important business goals is also to present the projects we developed in our R&D and Design Center and our experience as a rail systems operator in technical terms to the domestic rail system operators and to neighboring countries in our nearby geography globally, under the consultancy service. In terms of this goal, the visit of the Baku delegation was extremely important for us. We hope that it will lead to good cooperation”.
