Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAIBU) Nuclear Radiation Detectors Application and Research Center (NURDAM); will design and manufacture gallium nitrate (GaN)-based photodetectors, which are critical for rocket technology. NÜRDAM's project titled "Production of GaN Photodetectors with Superior Performance to be Used in Monitoring the Efficiency of the Lunar Mission Rocket Igniter System, Fire Extinguishing and Explosion Suppression Systems" was deemed worthy of support in the bilateral cooperation program of TÜBİTAK with the 2568-Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

NURDAM; It will design and manufacture GaN-based photodetectors used in rocket technology, which coincides with the "Moon Mission", one of the 10 strategic goals in the National Space Program. GaN-based photodetectors; It is used in advanced space communication, missile detection, flame sensors, biological process detection, air purification, ozone detection and many other fields.

Coordinator of NURDAM Director Prof. Dr. The team of the project made by Ercan Yılmaz; prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaçalı, Assoc. Dr. Aliekber Aktag, Assoc. Dr. Ayşegül Kahraman, Assoc. Dr. Efe Eseller, Dr. Instructor Member Erhan Budak, Dr. Instructor Member Ferhat Demiray, Lect. See. It consists of Ramazan Lök and doctoral students Umutcan Gürer, Emre Doğancı, Ozan Yılmaz and Berk Morkoç.

NURDAM Director Prof. Dr. Ercan Yilmaz; Stating that they will start the project work after the relevant support budget is sent,

“As our President has also announced, we will manufacture sensors that will be used in monitoring the efficiency of the igniter part of the rocket system on the Moon mission, fire extinguishing and explosion suppression here. The project has been approved, we are currently waiting for its budget. After the budget is sent, we will start the work quickly.”

made statements. In addition, according to NTV, NURDAM Director Prof. Dr. Ercan Yilmaz; He stated that the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) supports the project and after the end of production, they will start the process of integrating it into the rocket in cooperation with TUA.

Radiation Sensor in Domestic Satellites

NURDAM Director Prof. Dr. Ercan Yilmaz; Recalling the studies on the radiation module of satellites developed by Turkey

“In this context, we produced the radiation sensors and converted them into modules. The module was also tested and approved by TUBITAK Space. The integration process to our domestic satellites, IMECE Satellite and APSCO Satellite, has started. The Imece Satellite is expected to be launched in early 2022. After that, we will start getting the data.” made statements.
