It was reported that two trains collided between Andover and Salisbury in Wiltshire, located in the South West region of England, and 17 people were injured in the accident, according to initial reports.

A large number of firefighters, ambulances and police teams were dispatched to the scene. In the statement made by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, it was stated that the accident was large and 50 firefighters were sent to the scene. While it was stated that about 100 people were rescued from the train, it was stated that most of the passengers got out on their own with injuries, while it was announced that about 17 people, including the mechanic, were taken to the hospital.

An official told the BBC: “One of the cars in the back derailed after hitting an object and disrupted the whole signal system. The second train hit him as well,” he said.

It was stated that one of the trains was traveling between Portsmouth and Bristol, while the other train was operating between London's Waterloo station and Honiton.

While the police investigation into the incident continues, the British Daily Mail newspaper reported that the overturned train remained overturned for 7 minutes and the second train hit this train because there was no warning.

After the accident, other train services in the area close to the Fisherton Tunnel in the city were stopped.
