Bringing together the important names of the industry with the theme of 'Now for a Green Future', the forum took place online. Aylin Tülay Özden, Member of the Board of Directors of Doruk and General Manager of ProManage Corporation, who took part as a speaker in the session "Future's Route: End-to-End Transformation" moderated by Dünya Newspaper Editorial Board Chairman Şeref Oğuz, evaluated the gains for the industry by talking about the importance of digitalization for production processes.

Technology brand Doruk, which has developed the only intelligent production management system in the world that is fully integrated with artificial intelligence and augmented reality technologies, participated in the Aegean Economic Forum. In the online event organized by Özgencil Group in cooperation with Dünya newspaper and with the support of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, this year with the concept of 'Now for a Green Future'; Doruk Board Member and ProManage Corporation General Manager Aylin Tülay Özden, who made a presentation at the 'Future Route: End-to-End Transformation' session, talked about how the combination of IoT and artificial intelligence will accelerate the revolution in the industry.

“Factories should be able to digitize their way of doing business and culture”

Aylin Tülay Özden, who made a presentation at the session moderated by the Chairman of the Editorial Board of Dünya Newspaper, Şeref Oğuz, underlined that the ultimate goal of digitalization is to stay ahead of the competition. Expressing that all companies in the real sector aim to be profitable, Özden said; “Digitalization serves this purpose very effectively. At the beginning of the digitalization elements that will achieve this goal, the production of the preferred product in terms of product design and making more innovative and market-appropriate designs come. Secondly, all processes from order to shipment; It should be constantly renewed according to the needs of the market, users and customers. If the production in the factory is in question, being efficient as the third item and agile as the fourth item are among the criteria to be considered. In addition to all these, it is also important to make many investments such as robotization, IoT and new machinery that will serve digitalization within the factory. The main issue that should not be forgotten here is that a factory can invest in digital technologies as much as it wants, if it does not change the way they do business, it will definitely not benefit from this.”

“Digital change is basically a cultural transformation”

Özden pointed out that digital transformation is actually a cultural transformation; “Even if a factory has the most innovative product on the market, the benefit it will derive from it depends entirely on its ability to use that product. Therefore, changing the cultural approaches that will develop these skills should be the first step. However, most companies today have a reactive structure. Such businesses; it does not monitor itself, it carries out the processes manually and based on manpower, its auditability is weak and therefore it is insufficient in analysis. Most importantly, it tends to only solve problems when they occur. However, companies need to be proactive for digital transformation. Being proactive describes businesses that systematically manage their production operations online and can simulate the future based on data. Making methodological improvements that will take the bottlenecks of the enterprises forward by monitoring and analysis with IoT data gives businesses a proactive perspective. If there are bottlenecks in the business that cannot be resolved by being proactive, then it is necessary to return to the predictive business. These businesses can predict what will happen by looking at the indicators before the events happen and proceed accordingly. The last stage is autonomous businesses. These businesses, on the other hand, can improve and manage themselves autonomously thanks to cultural digital transformation.”

“The ability of the new generation to use digital tools is very high”

Emphasizing that the new generation is digital on its own, Özden; “The new generation, which adapts to the business models of the future, has the ability to take the existing ways of doing business further with digital infrastructures. Currently, factories are struggling to find qualified workers to employ. As a matter of fact, a qualified workforce is growing. All young people who have graduated from university currently live in a digital world. They can realize many things with mobile applications on their mobile phones. So many things will change as the new generation joins the business world. It seems very difficult for the new generation to work in factories if we cannot digitize our factories, make them transparent, and bring them into a form that can be clearly monitored, applied, managed and audited. This generation's ability to use digital tools is much higher than the previous generation. At this point, we should accept that the world is changing and we should not be afraid of going digital. If we can leave the daily routine works to digital autonomous systems, we can shift the human workforce to more qualified areas. What is important here is what goal the industrialists want to achieve. When they decide on this, both the investment they will make and the gain they will gain will offer very effective results.”
