Occupation Factory Continues to Provide Work, Food and Hope to the People of Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Vocational Factory, known as the "Fullless Factory", started face-to-face training after the pandemic period. Vocational Factory, which opened courses in 75 branches in line with the demands of the sector, continues to bring in the economy a workforce trained in different fields from sign language interpreting to the production of local food products.

The "flueless factory", which has benefited 75 thousand trainees in 15 years with vocational training in 90 different branches, started face-to-face training after the pandemic period. In the new period, vocational courses opened in different branches, from boutique chocolate courses to computer system maintenance and repair, from sign language interpreting to forensic pencil works, from product photography to the production of local food products, continue in 22 centers.

“We serve 400 trainees”

Profession Factory Branch Manager Zeki Kapı said, “We have received 400 trainee registrations so far and we are continuing our training. After our trainees graduate, we issue certificates within the framework of our protocol with the İzmir Provincial Directorate of National Education. With our Employment Development and Support Unit, we bring our trainees together with the sector. As the Vocational Factory, we are opening courses for employment in line with the demands coming from the sector.

The forgotten professions are also in this factory.

Trainee Zeynep Özlem Şentürk said, “When I saw that there was a sewing course in the Vocational Factory, I immediately registered. I waited too long for the course to open. I never knew how to sew. During the pandemic period, I decided to draw my path in this direction. Now I am getting closer to my goal step by step. Ümit Memiş, retired from the Air Force, said, “I saw on social media that the Professions Factory brought to light the professions that had sunk into oblivion. I signed up for the silver goose knitting course. Kazaz masters are always male. But I am the only male trainee in the class. We will keep this culture alive. Especially those who want to get a job should come to this course”.

The centers of the Vocational Factory are Halkapınar, Evka 4, Karabağlar, Evka 1, Evka 2, Gaziemir, Çamdibi, BayraklıIt is located in Ornekkoy, Narlidere, Kemalpasa, Seferihisar, Limontepe, Kadifekale, Gumuspala, Sasali, Urla, Ozdere, Tire, Torbali, Egekent and Toros. The courses are constantly updated in parallel with the local labor market, focusing on the sectors/branches that need intermediate staff and the qualifications demanded.
