National Long Range Air Defense System Trench Missile Tested

Developed by ASELSAN, ROKETSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries, the air defense missile system SİPER, which will be effective at long range, has left one more stage behind in the project after its successful test fire.

President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir announced the development on his social media accounts with the following statements:

“We have successfully completed another stage in the development of our long-range and multi-layered national air defense system, SİPER. With the SİPER, which we plan to include in the inventory in 2023, we will eliminate all threats against our Gökvatan in the strongest possible way.”

The firing of the trench missile was carried out at the Sinop Test Center. The trench missile is of great importance in terms of meeting Turkey's layered air defense needs with domestic resources. Developed to protect strategic facilities against enemy attacks within the scope of regional air defense, Trench will allow air defense at long range and in distributed architecture. The project is carried out in partnership with ASELSAN, ROKETSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE.

With the works carried out under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries, it is aimed to create a layered air defense for domestic systems.

In this context, mass production and deliveries of low altitude Korkut systems were started and are still continuing. Afterwards, the low altitude Sungur air defense system, which was thrown from a portable vehicle, was put into service. Subsequently, the low-altitude air defense missile system Hisar-A+ was delivered, while the development of the medium-altitude air defense system Hisar-O+ missile continued, while mass production began.

Trench, on the other hand, stands out with its long range beyond all these systems in this layered system.

Stating that this missile will be followed by Siper, Demir announced that they are planning to activate the Siper in 2023.

SİPER Battery Structure

The Fleet Control Center (FKM), which is connected to the Air Force Radar Network - RADNET, is seen in the battery structure of SİPER. The Fire Control Center (AKM) transfers the data to FKM with the Communication Station Vehicle (HIA). Communication Relay Tool (HRA) is used for transmission. The depiction, which includes four missile launchers with six missile launchers, also includes the Missile Transport Loading System (FTYS) vehicle.

The depiction also includes data transfer from the Peace Eagle Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft (HEİK) via Link-16.
