Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the ceremony of commissioning new vehicles in the machinery park of the General Directorate of Highways. Karaismailoğlu said, "We are continuing our preparations meticulously to strengthen the fleet of our General Directorate of Highways, so that our nation is not separated from its loved ones in harsh winter conditions, and that its transportation is not disrupted," said Karaismailoğlu, adding that they have further strengthened the fleet of Karayolları GM for snow-fighting and road maintenance services this year, and added new vehicles to the fleet. Said they were included.

THE ISSUE IS VATANSA BACKGROUND DETAILS

Karaismailoğlu noted that they are striving to protect our national independence, to prepare a New Turkey that will lead the world of the future, and to leave a great and strong Turkey to children.

“Therefore, we have no business with those who try to oppose even our national independence for the sake of their political calculations. We will not cooperate. For us, 'The Matter is the Homeland, the Rest is Details' We cannot have time to waste with those who do not have love for the homeland, nation and state. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have invested over 19 trillion 1 billion liras in our country's transportation and communication infrastructure in 131 years. We spent 61 percent of this investment on the development of our highways, we made a very important contribution to the development of trade by improving our transportation infrastructure. We have made Turkey a voice in international trade. Today, we tripled our Gross Domestic Product, which was 2002 billion dollars in 240. Again, we have increased our total exports, which was a little over 3 billion dollars in 2002, to 35 billion dollars today, which is approximately 169,5 times. We enriched Turkey. We do not say this, the World Bank does.”

Noting that they worked, produced and built like ants, Karaismailoğlu said that they gave the lion's share of investments to highways, which are the lifeblood of transportation, meeting, trade and communication.

WE SAVED 21 BILLION TL

Explaining that they have increased the length of the divided road from 6 thousand 100 kilometers to 28 thousand 402 kilometers throughout the country, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“We crossed mountains with tunnels, valleys with bridges. We increased our bridge and viaduct length to 712 kilometers. We increased our total tunnel length from 50 kilometers by 567 kilometers to 631 kilometers. Thanks to 28 kilometers of divided roads, we have saved 402 billion liras each year for the national economy in terms of labor and fuel savings. We have increased travel comfort and shortened transportation times. We increased the average speed from 21 kilometers to 40 kilometers on our roads. We reduced the death rates in accidents by increasing traffic safety. While vehicle mobility increased by 88 percent between 2003 and 2020, we reduced the loss of life per 170 million vehicle-kilometers by 100 percent, thanks to our infrastructure development efforts. It is as important as opening these roads, that these roads provide safe service. Every day, millions of vehicles are on the move all over our country. While we are developing our highway infrastructure, we have done and will do our part to provide the best service to our citizens who are on the roads for 81 days without saying snow or winter.”

82% OF MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT IS DOMESTIC

Karaismailoğlu said, “We buried the village roads that were closed for months because of the snow, the queues of buses and trucks that were kept on the roadside for days” and stated that they did not hide behind the excuse of “It snowed, no vehicles can pass here” like others. Expressing that they added the machines that will keep the roads open without saying snow, winter or storm, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“We started extensive renovation works in our machinery park. We added machinery and equipment that are constantly needed to the inventory of our General Directorate of Highways for snow-fighting and road maintenance. Average age of our Machine Park; When we were 2002 in 18, we reduced this rate to 10, thanks to the purchases made. We reduced the rate of machines aged 21 and over that have reached the end of their economic life from 57 percent to 21 percent. As of the end of this year, we have renewed approximately 41 percent of our machine park. In 2021, with a cost of 240 million TL, 317 machines and equipment, 35 equipment and 1 wide area radio system; We brought a total of 352 machines and equipment to our highways. Among these; There are machines of vital importance in the fight against snow, such as 80 N2 class pickup trucks, 4 2X50 trucks with snow blades and salt spreaders, 10 6x4 dump trucks, 5 tow trucks, 5 sweepers, and 1 self-propelled chip spreader. Approximately 197 million lira of these purchased machinery and equipment, 82 percent, is domestic production. With these purchases, the renewal value of the machinery park is approximately 676 million dollars, and 6 billion 388 million liras in Turkish currency.”

SERVICE IS PROVIDED WITH 13 THOUSAND 456 UNITS OF MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT

Underlining that the institution has come into service with a total of 5 thousand 297 machines and equipment, 13 thousand 456 of which are mobile machines, Karaismailologi stated that the General Directorate of Highways, as always, aims to ensure that citizens travel in a comfortable and traffic-safe environment in this winter season. “To be used in our work; 538 thousand 321 tons of salt, 339 thousand 848 cubic meters of salt aggregate, 8 thousand tons of chemical de-icing and salt solution for critical sections, and 700 tons of urea were stored in snow-fighting centers. On our roads, 822 kilometers of snow trenches were built on the sections where the traffic flow is difficult or closed due to the type and breeze. In addition, in the Snow Fighting Center established under the General Directorate of Highways; route analysis, snow-fighting efforts, opened-closed roads and instant traffic are tracked through monitors. The weather and road conditions are always monitored from the Headquarters and Regional Centers by means of cameras.”

ADVICE FROM THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION TO CITIZENS BEFORE WINTER

Karaismailoğlu, who also gave advice to the citizens, concluded his speech as follows:

“Another issue that is as important as these studies and measures carried out by the General Directorate of Highways is the responsibilities of our citizens who use snowy and icy roads. I recommend those who will travel in the winter season to get information about their routes before they set off. For this, you can use the route analysis program offered on the KGM website. Of course, the vehicle to be used must be prepared for winter conditions. We must never forget that this simple precaution saves lives.”

After the ceremony, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Karaismailoğlu, using a snowplow, changed the tire and gave the message "use winter tires" to the citizens.
