Women who need social, psychological and legal counseling support find İBB with them 7 hours a day, 24 days a week. Service is provided in three units and in four different languages. Continuing its multi-faceted work for women, IMM has fought for the right to a life worthy of human dignity for 3 women to date. The highest number of applications to IMM were made due to psychological and physical violence.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) announced the 7 – 2021 Local Equality Action Plan as a policy document on March 2021, 2024, so that all individuals living in the city, women, men and children, benefit equally from opportunities. Along with the pioneering step taken for Turkish politics, the current and future structures in IMM are drawn in line with the targets in this document. All service policies are planned to empower women and ensure gender equality. In this context, the units, which were implemented rapidly, continue to support a total of 3 and 808 accompanying children to date. With the Women's Support Line (88 444 80), it works in four languages ​​to help women lead a life free from all forms of violence.

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 25 November, IMM announces the data and concrete steps it has taken. IMM, which has implemented the Women's Support Line, Women's Counseling Unit and Women's Solidarity House to combat violence against women and contribute to women's building a new life free from violence, continues its multi-faceted works for women.

7/24 SUPPORT IN FOUR LANGUAGES

The Women's Support Hotline is there for women who are exposed to violence or who are at risk of violence 7/24. The center providing social and legal consultancy services; She advocates for women's rights in four languages: Turkish, Kurdish, English and Arabic. The calls received by the Women's Support Line, which accepts calls from all provinces throughout Turkey, are listed under the following headings:

  • Psychological Violence 43 percent
  • Physical Violence 33 percent
  • Economic Violence 11 percent
  • Persistent Pursuit 0.2 percent
  • Sexual Violence 0,3 percent

Violence Prevention and Monitoring Center (ŞÖNİM) affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies provided solutions to 38 percent of the requests received as a result of the applications, and 27 percent of them were resolved by the IMM Child Protection and Coordination Unit. 19 percent were also quickly forwarded to law enforcement. Alo 16 Social Support Line dealt with requests from outside the province, which constitute 183 percent of incoming calls.

All requests for Psychosocial Counseling and face-to-face meetings were met by the Women's Support Line, and interviews were provided. All of the legal consultancy requests were made by the Istanbul Bar Association Women's Rights Unit and Child Rights Unit and the İBB Women's Support Line.

PSYCHOLOGICAL, SOCIAL AND LEGAL COUNSELING

The Women's Counseling Unit became another İBB unit that provides psychological, social and legal counseling services to women. The Center conducts multi-faceted and integrated professional studies for women who have demands other than reporting violence. It also helps those who want to work find a job.

Receiving a total of 2 thousand 28 applications, the Women's Counseling Unit provided 20 percent of its services face-to-face and 80 percent through calls to the 444 80 86 line. As a result of the investigations, 123 women were placed in a women's shelter affiliated to IMM Women's Solidarity House and ŞÖNİM. The number of reports of neglect and abuse towards children was 61. As a result of the notifications, safe environments were provided for children in coordination with the IMM Child Protection and Coordination Unit, security units and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.

WOMEN SOLIDARITY HOUSE

The Women's Solidarity House, which was established for women and their children, if any, to establish a new life free from violence, carries out psychological, social and economic support activities. In the unit, where a total of 94 women and 88 children receive service, 40 percent of the women who applied to date found a job and started a new life by buying a house. 55 percent of the women were provided with free legal assistance.

As for the services provided to children, 88 percent of 22 children were registered in the Nursery Schools of the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, and 17 percent in schools. 22 percent of children were included in play therapies.
