Özgür Akdoğan, Secretary General of the South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) and Barış Kıyak, Head of Planning Unit, visited Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTSO) and met with Chairman of the Board Osman Çıralı. Stating that FTSO produces important projects in line with GEKA's program objectives, Secretary General Akdoğan said that the supported projects also contribute significantly to the visibility of the agency. President Çıralı, who thanked GEKA for its contributions to the region, said, “Our agency is a very important factor and a driving force in the realization of the big projects we want to bring to our region. He is always with us in our activities for the development of our region, almost like a secret hero. We also plan to complete our Fethiye Underwater History Park project in a short time with the support of GEKA.” he said.

During the meeting held at the FTSO Meğri Hall on November 17, 2021, FTSO Secretary General Atty. Ezgi Kullukçu, R&D and Project Unit Manager İrem Karacan, Kemal Köse and Foreign Trade and Industrial Transactions Unit Responsible Özge Ertürk Hakanoğlu were also present. Secretary General Akdoğan, who exchanged views with FTSO Chairman of the Board Osman Çıralı, said that GEKA, which is responsible for the provinces of Muğla, Aydın and Denizli, continues to work with the mission of activating local development and possible potentials. Emphasizing that FTSO produces important projects in line with GEKA's program objectives, Akdoğan underlined that the Chamber is an important stakeholder of GEKA, which attaches great importance to the development of Fethiye and Seydikemer. Expressing his satisfaction with the FTSO project team working in close dialogue and consultation with agency experts, Akdoğan noted that FTSO projects supported by GEKA also contributed significantly to the agency's visibility.

Explaining that the Babadağ Cable Car Project carried out by the FTSO has made very important contributions to spreading the regional tourism to 12 months and increasing the diversity of activities in alternative tourism, General Secretary Akdoğan said that the 'Fethiye Underwater History Park' project, which received grant support within the scope of GEKA's Call for Proposals for the 2020 Project Year. We expect it to contribute significantly to the development of sports tourism. We think that the diving spots in Fethiye, which we follow with appreciation, will be a center of attraction not only for domestic tourists but also for foreign tourists, our important target audience. After the completion of the project, we foresee that the effects will be at the level of the Babadağ Cable Car Project, if the promotion is done well.” said.

Stating that they always see GEKA as a valuable stakeholder and driving force in all projects that will contribute to the development of Fethiye and Seydikemer, FTSO Chairman of the Board Osman Çıralı said, “There are many projects we are currently carrying out with our agency. It is very important that stakeholders such as GEKA and our Chamber come together in big projects such as Fethiye Underwater History Park. Finally, Antalya Local Products Fair (YOREX), where we promote the local products of Fethiye and Seydikemer together with Muğla chambers, is an example of this. Providing the stand to us, GEKA is always with us in activities aimed at the development of our region, almost like a secret hero. We also plan to complete our Fethiye Underwater History Park project in a short time with the support of GEKA. I would like to thank all the employees of our agency, especially our Secretary General Özgür Akdoğan, for their support to our projects.” he said.

In the continuation of the meeting, views were also exchanged on the “We Are Aware of Echo-Tourism” Training and Consultancy and “Fethiye Fairgrounds and Congress Center” projects supported by GEKA.
