In his assessment on the subject, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: “On September 6, 2021, we started face-to-face education at all grade levels, five days a week, and after a 2,5-month period, we took the one-week break that was foreseen in the calendar. Our students and teachers had the opportunity to rest during the break holiday week. Our teachers were able to continue their professional development training remotely from the digital environment during this one-week period. Therefore, our teachers did not go to school this week. Now, we will continue from where we left off with the same determination and following all our health measures. On this occasion, I wish all our students a healthy and successful education period.”

Monday only 66 classes are closed

Stating that the classes that were closed due to this one-week break holiday, Özer continued his words as follows: “As of November 22, 2021, only 850 of 66 thousand classrooms will be closed. All other classes will continue with face-to-face instruction.”

Vaccination rate of teachers 93%

Emphasizing that there is a constant increase in the vaccination rates of teachers, Özer stated that the rate of teachers who received at least two doses of vaccination increased to 88%. Özer said: “The rate of teachers who had at least two doses of vaccination on 6 August was 60%. It is very important that this rate has increased to 88% as of today. On the other hand, the rate of teachers who developed antibodies without being vaccinated is around 5%. Therefore, our rate of teachers who have been vaccinated at least two doses and have antibodies without the vaccine is around 93%. Considering the size of the number of teachers in our education system, this rate corresponds to approximately 1 million 116 thousand teachers. Our biggest advantage in keeping our schools open at the moment is that our teachers are highly vaccinated.”
