Sinop Ayancık Terminal Bridge, where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony by sending a video message, was put into service. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the Ayancık Terminal Bridge was completed in as little as 80 days and announced that they will complete the Şevki Şentürk Bridge on 20 December and the Azdavay Bridge on 30 December.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the opening ceremony of the Ayancık Terminal Bridge. At the ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by sending a video message, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said that on August 11, the biggest disaster of recent years, unprecedented involving Kastamonu, Bartın and Sinop provinces, was experienced.
Reminding that they received the flood notification while fighting forest fires in the Mediterranean Region, Karaismailoğlu said, “We reached the disaster area quickly, together with our minister friends, while the disaster continued. We were on the field with all the organs of our government. We entered every destroyed building in Kastamonu, Bartın and Sinop, and examined every destroyed bridge and road on site. We listened to the problems in every house that had a fire and produced solutions. We evacuated 2 thousand 779 citizens by land, air and sea. We collected 64 cubic meters of logs, which flowed into the sea during the flood and endangered the maritime traffic, with the steel net system that we applied for the first time, towed with tugboats. We provided the transportation of our citizens between Türkeli and Çatalzeytin by helicopters. We immediately brought a car ferry and organized car voyages between Türkeli and İnebolu,” he said.
WE WRITTEN THE EPIC OF NATION-STATE COOPERATION AND SOLIDARITY
Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, "As always, we have stood by our nation as a state from the first moment in these 3 provinces," and stated that they wrote the epic of nation-state cooperation and solidarity all together. Karaismailoğlu explained that they witnessed together that all kinds of needs can be solved as soon as possible with a professional coordination, division of labor and process management, and continued his speech as follows:
“Similar to the flood disasters that occurred in our country were also experienced in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany. Areas of flood disaster in Germany could not be cleared of slime for a long time. Basic problems such as drinking water, electricity and sewerage could not be solved for a long time. 200 people in the region were left without electricity for days. For more than 40 days, the drinking water problem remained unsolved. We do not want any country, not even a single person, to experience such suffering. We extended our friendly hand to these countries. We shared their pain. We said, 'Turkey is always ready to help'. We displayed a 'correct' example of international solidarity.”
WE WORK TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE TO OUR NATION
Noting that natural disasters, global warming and climate crisis threaten the whole world and do not discriminate between countries, Karaismailoğlu said, “Therefore, we are working to be prepared for possible disasters and to constantly improve ourselves. When we questioned 'what did we do right, what did they do wrong', we saw the experience and professionalism we have in all kinds of post-disaster process management, and the speed brought by the Presidential Government System in decision-making. In these countries, which we have mentioned, clumsiness in coordination and process management prevented the most urgent and vital interventions. We are working to be even faster and more effective, and to minimize the damage to our citizens and our nation," he said.
WE STARTED TRANSPORTATION FROM SELIN THE FOLLOWING DAY
Pointing out that 228 kilometers of the 115 kilometers of road network in Kastamonu, Bartın and Sinop provinces were damaged in the flood disaster, Karaismailoğlu said that bridges in 3 provinces were destroyed and roads were damaged. Referring to the work done after the flood disaster, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said:
“We opened the alternatives of our damaged bridges in a day or two. For the continuity of transportation in the region, we built temporary bridges with prefabricated culverts within 48 hours instead of the demolished bridges. We immediately provided transportation with mobile steel bridges. We started transportation from the day after the flood. We put the connection and service roads into service in a short time. Right after the flood, we made 1 different road tenders, 2 in Bartın, 7 in Sinop and 10 in Kastamonu, in order to repair the damages and to provide better and higher quality transportation. Instead of our destroyed Çatalzeytin Bridge, we built a much longer, wider foot span, and much stronger statically stronger one in a record time of 52 days, and put it into service on October 28.”
WE WILL OPEN THE ŞEVKİ ŞENTÜRK BRIDGE ON DECEMBER 20
Underlining that they opened the Ayancık Terminal Bridge, one of the destroyed bridges, today, Karaismailoğlu said that they will continue other works at the same speed and intensity. Emphasizing that they will open the Kumluca -2 Bridge and Kavlakdibi Bridge in the coming days, Karaismailoğlu announced that they will complete the Şevki Şentürk Bridge on 20 December and the Azdavay Bridge on 30 December.
Underlining that the road works continue with the bridges, Karaismailoğlu gave the following information:
“Our road construction works continue on various sections of the Ağlı-Azdavay junction-Şenpazar Road along with the Kastamonu-İnebolu Road and Devrekani-Çatalzeytin Road, Devrekani-Bozkurt roads. in Sinop; Along with the bridges, filling works between Boyabat and Ayancık, repair and construction works on the İkisu Bridge and Yenikonak, Ayancık-Türkeli, Sinop-Ayancık and village roads continue in the same way. In our province of Bartın; Along with the construction of Kavlakdibi, Kirazlı, Kumluca-1, Kumluca-2, the flood damage works of Kozcagiz-Kumluca-Abdipaşa Road continue at great speed.”
Noting that the Ayancık Terminal Bridge has 4 spans and a length of 110 meters, Minister Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the bridge, the construction of which started on September 5, was completed in as little as 80 days. Karaismailoğlu emphasized that once the bridge is put into service, transportation on both sides of the Ayancık district will be much more comfortable, safe and fast.
