There is a delay in Yenimahalle Şentepe Cable Car Line

The cable car line serving between EGO General Directorate Yenimahalle-Şentepe Stations has been temporarily closed to service as of 19 March 21, as the physical conditions of the cable car cabins do not allow for social distance travel within the scope of the Covid-2020 pandemic measures.

In our announcement dated 08 June 2021, it was shared with the public that the maintenance and inspection works of our cable car line, which has been closed for fifteen months, have started again.

As of July 01, 2021, with the transition to the third stage of the gradual normalization process, the re-opening of the Yenimahalle-Şentepe Cable Car line has come to the fore if the necessary conditions are met. However, due to the fact that the cable car operation has been closed for about fifteen months, it was considered that opening the line without heavy maintenance would be inconvenient in terms of passenger safety and system security. For this reason, as of July 07, 2021, heavy maintenance works for the line have been started by our organization.

In this context, after the last inspection by the maintenance company, it was determined by the company that the rope was out of safety standards due to broken and metal loss in the rope running the first stage of the facility. In this context, it was stated that the rope should be renewed in the 1.457-meter section between Yenimahalle-TRT Transmitter Stations, which is the first stage of the line.

LAST STATUS AS OF NOVEMBER 15, 2021

  • Leitner Teleferik Sistemleri Ltd. for the replacement of 1 damaged zone rope. Sti. A contract was signed with on 23.09.2021. According to the contract period, the work is expected to be completed on 21.01.2022.

According to the inspection results, the clamp (the system that allows the cabin to hold onto the rope) parts of 100 cabins are unusable. 105 sets of cabin clamps were ordered to the main producer Leitner. However, in the meeting held for the 2 main items (lower jaw-upper jaw) materials that were damaged as a result of the inspection, it was stated that the first batch (30 sets) of the main materials needed will be delivered in the last week of November, and the second batch (75 sets) will be delivered in the last week of January 2022. reported to us. If the delivery is made in this way, even if the installation of the new rope is completed, some time will be needed for the replacement of the cabin clamp parts. According to the number of deliveries to be made, the opening is likely to be in February/March.

The safety of the people of Ankara comes first for us. The ropeway system has been heavily overhauled three times so far, and each maintenance took one month. In each heavy maintenance, the system was stopped and remained closed for a month. During this period, transportation of our passengers was provided by buses.

As an alternative to the Yenimahalle-Şentepe Cable Car line, which was suspended as of March 21, 2020, with the start of the pandemic process, taking into account public health;

By increasing the number of existing services for our vehicles with line number 271 Yenimahalle Metro Station-Şentepe, the number of 3 shuttles provided with a total of 2 vehicles, 5 solo and 60 bellows, before the process, taking into account the restrictions in passenger capacity utilization rates, on the days and hours when the curfew is applied; With a total of 5 vehicles, 2 solo and 7 bellows, an average of 69 vehicles has been increased.

This service, which is provided by our line 271 in order to meet the transportation demand in the region, will continue uninterruptedly during the maintenance of our ropeway line.

In addition, in our bus line, which operates as an alternative to the cable car line, instantaneous surveillance will be made by the Fleet Tracking Center and field supervisors, depending on the passenger density, and public transportation will be provided immediately without making any of our citizens suffer.
