The first screening of Müjdat Gezen documentary hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality was held in İzmir. Müjdat Gezen, who has completed his 61st year in art, also attended the event at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center.

The premiere of the documentary about Müjdat Gezen's life, prepared by journalist Gökmen Ulu, attracted great interest. In his speech at the gala, Müjdat Gezen said, “It was a very good documentary. Congratulations to Gökmen Ulu's work. Make no mistake, my friends understood well. Thank you very much, you made me very emotional”. Müjdat Gezen invited his daughter Elif Gezen to the stage and said, “My family, friends and relatives are among those who gave me this strength. However, the event that has made me the happiest lately is my longing for my daughter, Elif. She lives in the Netherlands. I miss it so much,” she said.

We started shooting the documentary two years ago. Pandemic intervened, we waited a long time for today. We missed Müjdat Gezen, the representative of Turkey, which we are longing for. The iconic name of our struggle for enlightenment and democracy, the great master of Turkish theater, Müjdat Gezen, who has made us smile for 61 years, and his precious family, welcome to Izmir.” Saying that he is trying to explain the unknown aspects of Müjdat Gezen, Gökmen Ulu said, “This documentary is a homage to Müjdat Gezen and his comrades, who dedicated a significant part of his life to society. Beyond being a manifestation of our gratitude to him as citizens, this documentary is always a role model to all segments of society.”

His daughter Elif Gezen participated with a special composition

In the 95-minute documentary, Müjdat Gezen's lesser-known and never-known aspects were explained as well as his professional life.
