In his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that Istanbul is an ancient city and said, “It is really a privilege to serve in Istanbul and the people of Istanbul. You will make 3 million people happy. You will try to solve the problems created by 16 million people without their knowledge. Thousands of tons of garbage will be collected and returned to the public as a service, without polluting the environment. Istanbul is a city that is the apple of the eye not only of Turkey but also of the world. And in this city, people want to live happily. And while living in this city, they do not want nature to be destroyed,” he said.
FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU TO İMAMOĞLU: “TURKEY WITNESSES YOUR EFFORTS”
Noting that Istanbul has turned into a "concrete forest" recently, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Such an Istanbul has been taken over by the President. Now you are trying to create green spaces. Kılıçdaroğlu clarified the reason for telling these with the following words:
“They say they're investing. Beautiful; be invested. They build roads, bridges, hospitals; Let's face it, we have no objections. But these investments should be made with the taxes I pay, not by borrowing my grandchildren. If my grandchildren are in debt, why am I paying this tax now? There is one more thing. They are investing. It's pretty good; let them do it. We thank you. How much are you making these investments for? 'Sir, we don't know the trade secret.' Why don't we know? Why shouldn't I know the cost of an investment I paid for? The government should be transparent, transparent. It should act within a framework that is accountable to its citizens. Neither do they.”

İMAMOĞLU: “Electricity will be provided for 1 million 400 thousand people”
Speaking at the opening, İmamoğlu shared detailed information about the facility. Stating that the facility they put into service will dispose of 15 percent of the domestic waste generated in Istanbul by the 'incineration' method, İmamoğlu said:
"Facility; With the 85 megawatts of electricity it produces, it will contribute to the elimination of the energy deficit of approximately 1 million 400 thousand Istanbulites. The facility was started in 2017, and as of the 2019 elections, 20 percent physical progress was achieved. We built this facility within 2 years, with determination, which had a contractual deadline, with an extraordinary effort, by closing the financial gap, by making international contracts regarding this, and especially by the special efforts of the contractor companies doing this work. Today, we are experiencing the success and pride of reaching the conclusion of a project all together. It is another source of pride for us that our facility, which also supports domestic production, contributes to the elimination of Turkey's energy deficit. Our facility; Thanks to its daily capacity of 3 tons and an annual capacity of approximately 1 million tons, it will actually reduce the amount of waste going to landfills in line with our green solution vision. We will use the most advanced technologies here. Our emission values will be below the European Union limits. In addition, thanks to the reduction in fossil fuel use, the existence of this facility will prevent 700 million 1 thousand tons of greenhouse gas emissions, which corresponds to the annual emission of 1 thousand vehicles on average.”
“I HOPE THIS FACILITY WILL BE EXEMPLARY”
Emphasizing that İBB subsidiary İSTAÇ will obtain another 1,5 million tons of carbon credit with the addition of this facility, İmamoğlu said, “Thus, it will become an institution with approximately 3 million tons of carbon credits annually. We all know very well that waste management and prevention of fossil fuel use are among the most important topics in the fight against climate change. And that this issue is embraced by children and young people, especially in the world, is a valuable basis and guarantee for us. Of course, at this point, we are of course very happy to open Turkey's first waste incineration and energy generation facility. I hope this facility will set an example and we will see that many investments that will benefit our country in terms of both environmental protection and energy production are implemented throughout the country; It will make us very, very happy on behalf of our country, nation and state.”
The facility was put into service with the ribbon cutting after the speeches. Kılıçdaroğlu, Akşener, İmamoğlu and their delegation made a short tour of the facility.
