Rear Admiral Alper YENİEL (Naval Air Commander), who made a speech at the "Naval Air Projects" session held within the scope of the 10th Naval Systems Seminar, gave information about the ongoing projects.

In the session where the supplies of the Naval Forces Command within the scope of MELTEM Projects were mentioned, it was stated that there are currently 2 P-72 maritime patrol aircraft and 3 C-72 naval general purpose aircraft in the inventory. Within the scope of the MELTEM-3 Project, it was shared that 2021 P-2 aircraft in 72 and 2022 more P-2 aircraft in 72 will enter the inventory. When the deliveries are completed, 3 P-6 DKUs and 72 C-3s will be added to the inventory within the scope of MELTEM-72.

According to the statements made by the Ministry of National Defense, the fourth aircraft (as P-2021) was delivered to the Naval Forces Command in the MELTEM-3 Project in July 72.

On May 4, 2021, within the scope of the MELTEM-3 Project, the third aircraft, the C-72, namely the Marine Utility Aircraft, entered the inventory; In December 2020, the first P-72 Marine Patrol Aircraft entered the inventory. Within the scope of the MELTEM-3 Project carried out by the SSB, the second of the P-72 Naval Patrol Aircraft was delivered to the Naval Forces Command in March 2021. Briefly, it was announced that there were 3 P-72s and 1 C-72 aircraft in the inventory. In addition, in 2021, it was planned to deliver 2 Naval Patrol Aircraft and 1 (C-72) Naval Utility Aircraft to the Naval Forces Command.

MELTEM be procured under the Project Our Navy 6 entering the inventory P-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft we serve successfully as a strategic element of the Turkish Armed Forces in waters where Turkey's continental shelf and national interests, including the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean today.

At this stage of the MELTEM Project, it is aimed to supply 6 ATR72-600 aircraft to be used in naval surveillance and maritime patrol duties and to integrate the mission equipment supplied within the framework of the MELTEM Project.

The fourth P-72 Marine Patrol Aircraft, which entered the inventory of our Navy with the ceremony held, will be an important force multiplier for the control and protection of the Blue Homeland, which has more than 8300 km of coastline. With the completion of deliveries within the scope of the MELTEM Project, the number of our maritime patrol aircraft will increase to 12.

P-72 Naval Patrol Aircraft

Critical systems such as advanced Radar System, Electronic Support Measures, Acoustic Processing Systems, Tactical Data Link 72 and 11, MK16 and MK46 Torpedo transport and launch capability were integrated on the P-54 Naval Patrol Aircraft.

Thanks to these systems, aircraft will undertake important tasks such as Submarine Defense War, Above-Water Defense Warfare, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Over the Horizon Targeting, Search and Rescue.

In addition to the new features such as Link 235 system, MK16 torpedo carrying and throwing, which are not available on P-54 aircraft, P-72 aircraft will have the ability to operate for longer periods of time.
