Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality opened the "Antep Defense Exhibition in Turkish and French Press" organized within the scope of the 100th Anniversary of the Liberation of Gaziantep.
The 100th anniversary celebrations of the Liberation of Gaziantep, which was taken under the auspices of the Presidency with the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, continue uninterruptedly. The exhibition, organized by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality in order not to make the Antep Defense forgotten and to keep the memory of the heroes alive, contains special news, magazines and newspaper samples, which express the view and support of Anatolia to the struggle and the views of the French about the unfair occupation in the days of the struggle between 1919-1921. Panorama 25 December Gaziantep Defense Heroism Panorama and Museum was opened with a ceremony held at Ferit Bey Exhibition Hall.
THE EXHIBITION WILL BE OPEN TO VISITORS UNTIL 20 DECEMBER
In the exhibition, which contains a total of 10 documents, 42 of which are original copies, and where many new documents are exhibited for the first time, the place of the epic struggle against the imperialist French rule in the newspapers is conveyed, why the invaders occupied Gaziantep, the climatic conditions difficulties and its geographical importance are discussed. The exhibition, prepared by historians Murat Dağ and İsmail Hakkı Üzüm, will be open to visitors until 20 December.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, who made a speech at the opening, thanked those who prepared the exhibition and those who contributed, “When I enter this place, my heart beats in a different way. We have martyrs who gave their lives for this land. We are getting ready for the second century as we go to the 25th of December, the 100th anniversary. We commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all his comrades in arms, our veterans and martyrs in Gazi city and all over Turkey, with mercy and gratitude, who established the republic in this first century and brought it to this day. If we forget and do not learn the lessons to be learned, these experiences can happen again. We need to explain this spirit and consciousness a hundred years ago to our youth, without forgetting. That's why our museums are so important. We need to prepare for the second century with the lessons to be learned from what happened in our museums. Of course, he loves our own city and the land we were born in is important, but the news that appeared in the French newspapers that day is the biggest proof and proof. Just as we tried to be worthy grandchildren of our ancestors, our grandchildren should be proud of us and they should feel the necessity of our work. We have a lot of work to do to leave a beautiful Gaziantep and a beautiful world to the future. Even though the conditions change, our duty is always the same. Being aware of our duty, we are at the city's disposal for Gaziantep, which is rising with its culture, museums, people, education and knowledge.

Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül stated in his speech that there are only a few days left until the centennial of the Liberation of Gaziantep and said, “Various events are being held this week, especially the Metropolitan Municipality. Today, we are looking at both Turkish and French news a century ago. It is necessary to do things that will be recorded in history. It was made a hundred years ago, and we are exhibiting them now. On this occasion, we wish God's mercy on our martyrs who left their homeland for us. I believe that in a hundred years and a thousand years, this city and country will be far ahead of what we left behind.”
