The 10th Children's Rights Film Festival (ICRFF) is held online with a new selection on 12-20 November. Due to the pandemic, a limited number of films will be presented to the audience at the festival, and 41 films will be open to children and adults for 8 days. With the special permission of the copyright holders, the films that will be screened in the original language can be accessed free of charge with Turkish and English subtitles at icrff.org.
“Child Directors”
The festival, which aims to increase artistic-cultural productions related to children's rights, is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema, the European Union Delegation to Turkey, UNICEF Turkish National Committee, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Child Rights Culture and Art Association.
The festival features films from the USA, Germany, Belarus, Czechia, Denmark, Philippines, France, India, Iran, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Hungary, Malaysia, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Portugal, Russia and Singapore as well as Turkey. taking. The film selections in the program are divided into sub-titles as “Child Directors”, “Children's Rights Through the Eyes of Adults” and “Feature Films on Children's Rights”. The “Child Directors” section, which is included in order to support children's participation rights, includes films by directors under the age of 18. Other films in the festival were classified by academics as appropriate for children's age groups.
Article 10 discussed
At the festival, where an article of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is discussed every year, attention is drawn to the right of children whose parents live in different countries to enter or leave any country in order to be with their families, which is the 10th article of the convention this year. Exhibitions, workshops and panels held in previous years in line with the theme will not be held this year due to the pandemic. However, the interviews and the award ceremony will be held online. The winners of the festival will be announced on social media on Saturday, November 20, at 19.00 on World Children's Day.
