Tesla China has opened its first-of-its-kind R&D innovation center at its Gigafactory in Shanghai, among the overseas facilities of Tesla's electric car company.
Tom Zhu, president of Tesla China, said that Tesla has implemented its commitment to develop the Chinese market deeply, and that the R&D center will further stimulate Tesla's localization process in China. According to the plan, the R&D innovation center will carry out original development studies for vehicles, charging equipment and energy products. The data center will be used to store Chinese operations data such as factory production information.
