Within the scope of the UN World Food Program (WFP), the transportation of flour shipments to Afghanistan is provided by TCDD Transportation trains.

The flour shipment carried out under the coordination of the United Nations was determined as 20 thousand tons at the first stage, and it is planned to increase the shipment to 50 thousand tons in the following period.

Departing from Istanbul Çatalca, the trains passing through Marmaray follow the Iran-Turkmenistan track. The final destination for the flour shipment is Afghanistan's Turgundi Station.

While the total amount of flour reaches 14 tons on the trains, the first of which departed on October 3 and the third was bid farewell, a distance of 500 kilometers is covered between Turkey and Afghanistan within the scope of the shipment. The expeditions are completed in 4 days.

Regular freight transportation between Turkey and Afghanistan will be started

Flour transported by TCDD Tasimacilik wagons from Turkey to Iran's Turkmenistan border is transferred to the wagons of the Turkmenistan railway at the Iran-Turkmenistan border due to the difference in the railway line spacing. In cooperation with Iran and Turkmenistan railways, regular, sustainable and rapid progress of freight trains to be operated on this route will be ensured. Thus, regular freight transportation between Turkey and Afghanistan will be started in the future.
