The liberation of İzmir, one of the iconic cities of the National Struggle, became a documentary called “Towards İzmir: September 9th”. The first screening of the film will be held at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center on Thursday, October 28, free of charge.

The liberation struggle of Izmir, which was occupied by the Greeks on May 15, 1919, at the end of the First World War, was narrated with a documentary film. The premiere night of the film, to which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality also contributed, will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 20.30. The screening will be free to watch.

It took a year to shoot

In the documentary, which was shot in a year after a long archive work, expert historians and researcher-writers Alev Coşkun, Yaşar Aksoy, Kemal Arı, Vahdettin Engin, Ahmet Mehmetefendioğlu, Hayat Akıncı, Feyyaz Yüzatlı and Şükrü Kocagöz fought for the liberation of İzmir. Includes interviews with the families of the heroes. The director of the documentary was Mesut Gengeç, the general coordinator was Bülent Günal, and Yılmaz Aydın was responsible for the project. The soundtrack of the documentary, in which dramas take place in the important scenes, is signed by Yıldıray Gürgen.
