We focused on the fight against drought and poverty.

Emphasizing the importance of Küçük Menderes Basin in his opening speech, the President Tunç Soyer“Ornamental plants production should be one of the most important sectors of Turkey's agriculture with the added value and employment it creates. Turkey exported ornamental plants worth 2020 million dollars in 106. We know very well that our producers in İzmir will increase this rate by providing better conditions. Within the framework of our vision of 'Another Agriculture is Possible', we announced our 'İzmir Agriculture' program here in our Ödemiş district last January. İzmir Agriculture is a project that saves our country's agriculture from the import clamp and makes it an exporter. İzmir Agriculture, which focuses on the fight against drought and poverty; It includes comprehensive and versatile research from the planning of the product pattern to the logistics, from the processing of the product to its marketing. For example, we decided to encourage natural plants and shrubs of the Mediterranean instead of ornamental plants and imported species in the landscape. The reason we made this choice is that these plants do not need watering at all throughout the year. In this way, we protect our limited water resources and biodiversity, while at the same time greatly reducing the irrigation and maintenance costs of parks and gardens. I would like to give good news to our producer cooperatives in this regard. As of this year, we give a 25 percent prepaid purchase guarantee to our producers who prefer to produce native and natural species suitable for the landscape instead of imported plant breeds. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will stand by and support all our producers who want to take part in this historical transformation.”

“We will increase exports”

Stating that they will provide a sales guarantee in addition to the purchase guarantee, Soyer said, “Thanks to the fairs organized by İZFAŞ, we continue to bring our manufacturer together with the buyers around the world. We include natural ornamental and landscape plants that consume less water in the scope of both purchase guarantee and export support. Our Flowera Cut Flowers, Ornamental Plants and Landscape Fair is one of the most important steps we will take in this regard. On the other hand, we aim to increase the export of ornamental plants in İzmir with the Botanical EXPO 2026, which we are entitled to host in İzmir. For all these reasons, I attach great importance to the Ödemiş Ornamental Plants and Arboriculture Exhibition, the meeting platform of institutions and organizations serving in the landscape sector in Turkey. I would like to take this opportunity to express once again that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will continue to support you in all matters and under all circumstances. We have to increase our exports. We have to carry the very successful performance of our producers in ornamental plants to the whole world. If we do not increase exports, ornamental plants producers in the domestic market are doomed to shrink, shrink and disappear. We have no other way! We want to introduce you to the world more.”

Sarıbal: “This exhibition is very important, it is a whole”

Referring to the issue of climate change and global warming, CHP Bursa Deputy, Member of the Party Assembly, Chief Advisor to CHP Deputy Chairman of Agriculture Orhan Sarıbal said, “These lands are sacred. Hunger began to tame the world again. We must be able to say 'no land, no life'. Environment is life. The environment is not the monopoly of human beings, it belongs to the world and living things. This exhibition, organized by the Ornamental Plants Association, is very important in this sense.”

Ödemiş Mayor Mehmet Eriş said, “Ödemiş is the cradle of cooperatives, animal husbandry and agriculture. Our President Tunç SoyerWe want to succeed with your support. The most beautiful products will meet you here. We set up our own nursery. Our President Tunç SoyerThere is a saying 'The producer must be satisfied where he is born'. This is how we work too. Our district governor also solves our difficulties. We will succeed together,” he said.

VAT rate on ornamental plants should be reduced

Ödemiş District Governor Fatih Aksoy said, “Our exhibition; I wish good luck to our producers and everyone who works in the sector and eats bread. I would like to thank everyone who has put on top of it every year and made it possible for our exhibition to come here.”
