President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the delegation of Silk Road Clean Energy Solutions (SiRo), the joint battery company that will power Turkey's Automobile (TOGG), which is planned to start mass production in the 100th anniversary of the Republic. During the meeting held at the Presidential Complex, the delegation stated to President Erdoğan that SiRo was established in partnership with TOGG and Chinese Farasis Energy. He gave information about the investments, especially the studies on the development and production of domestic battery products.
Before the meeting at the Presidential Complex, the delegation also presented SiRo's 20 GWh battery investment plan and incentive file during its visit to the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
IT WILL POWER TOGG
The most curious part of TOGG, whose factory construction was started with a ceremony attended by President Erdoğan on 27 December 2019 and again attended by Erdoğan on 18 July 2020, was the battery. An important step has been taken to end the curiosity on this subject. SiRo was established to develop energy storage solutions in partnership with TOGG and Farasis Energy for the production of battery modules and packages that will power TOGG.
SiRo will establish a factory next to TOGG's production center in Gemlik. The Ministry of Industry and Technology signed the 20 GWh battery investment plan and incentive application file of SiRo, which will operate in domestic battery production at the factory. Industry and Technology Minister Varank, TOGG Chairman of the Board Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and Farasis Energy Co-Founder and CTO Dr. Keith Kepler agreed. During the meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu and Kepler signed the investment plan and incentive application file.
BABAYİĞİTLER WAS ALSO THERE
During the meeting at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Fatih Kacır, TOGG Vice Chairman of the Board Tuncay Özilhan, TOGG Board Member Ahmet Nazif Zorlu, TOGG CEO, SiRo Chairman of the Board Gürcan Karakaş, SiRo Commercial General Manager Özgür Özel, SiRo Teknik General Manager Stefan Bergold and TOBB Deputy Secretary General Sarp Kalkan were also present.
ATTENDED TO THE FACILITY
After the meeting, Minister Varank and his entourage went to the Presidential Complex. President Erdoğan received the delegation headed by Minister Varank. During the meeting, the delegation informed President Erdoğan about the investments, especially the studies on the development and production of domestic battery products.
TOGG Chairman of the Board of Directors Hisarcıklıoğlu said that SiRo was born out of their partnership with Farasis Energy, one of the largest manufacturers in the battery market, to develop energy storage solutions for automotive and non-automotive applications.
A STRATEGIC STEP
Stating that the name SiRo comes from the English language of the historical Silk Road, which connects East and West and plays an important role in the development of civilizations, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “SiRo is a strategic step that will contribute to the technological transformation of the mobility ecosystem in our country. With SiRo, we will produce TOGG's battery modules and packages, and develop energy storage solutions in Turkey and neighboring countries.” said.
CLEAN AND EFFICIENT ENERGY
Noting that with this initiative, they aim to be a pioneer in increasing the efficiency of Turkey's energy system, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We aim to reduce foreign dependency in energy and accelerate the development of a clean and efficient energy system.” he said.
OUR MOST IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIP
Kepler, Farasis Energy Co-Founder, said, “The joint venture that we have implemented together with TOGG in Turkey is Farasis' most important partnership abroad in the coming years. Therefore, we will devote all our efforts to the successful growth of this new company.”
EUROPE'S FIRST BORN ELECTRIC SUV
Emerging with the goal of creating a globally competitive automobile brand, where Turkey owns intellectual and industrial property rights, TOGG will be Europe's first born electric SUV when it comes off the band in the last quarter of 2022. TOGG will launch 2030 different models until 5. At the first stage, electric, connected and new generation cars with a 51 percent domestic rate will be produced in the factory established on an area of 1.2 million square meters in Gemlik.
