149 thousand 870 people applied to the employment offices of IMM. Employment Offices enabled at least one person to be employed in 21 thousand 252 households in Istanbul. Collaborating with IMM Institute Istanbul İSMEK, Employment Offices aim to find jobs for more people by providing vocational training in sectors with the highest demand for workers.

Employment Offices became hope against unemployment, one of the biggest problems in Turkey. Due to the pandemic and restrictions that have been going on for almost two years, many workplaces were closed, serious losses were experienced in almost every sector and the unemployment rate increased even more. According to the August 2021 data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of new unemployed people aged 15 and over in Turkey increased by 11 thousand compared to the previous year and reached 3 million 965 people. As of October 2019, 2021 thousand 149 people applied to the Employment Offices, which started to serve as of July 870. While the number of employers registered to the Employment Offices was 7 thousand 485, a total of 21 thousand 252 people were employed in this way.

IT BOTH TEACHING A VOCATION AND FINDING A JOB

Regional Employment Offices work in cooperation with İBB Institute Istanbul İSMEK to ensure that candidates benefit from vocational training when necessary. Employment Offices also support the education and career development of citizens. Thus, the applicants are given vocational training to improve their competencies or acquire a new profession; Then, in line with the trainings given, they are employed in open positions in the private sector.

AREAS WITH THE MOST REQUESTED STAFF IN 2021

As a result of the cooperation between the private sector and the Regional Employment Offices, 21 thousand 252 job seekers were placed in a job despite the adverse conditions of the pandemic. The most employed areas were as follows: Production personnel, warehouse personnel, cleaning personnel, waiters, sales support personnel, market personnel, busboys, drivers, security personnel, sales personnel, patient consultants, natural gas counter personnel, disabled personnel, call center. customer representative, cashier, cook, cnc operator, accounting, assembly personnel and collection specialist.

MOBILE OFFICES ARE GOING THROUGH THE CITY

Aiming to reach all Istanbul residents quickly and easily and to contribute to the solution of the employment problem, IMM established "Mobile Offices". In addition to the office centers opened in 13 districts of Istanbul, more than 85 applications have been made to date to the two Mobile Employment Offices that receive job applications from our citizens by providing mobile services to benefit all parts of the city.

JOINT PROJECTS

The main projects in which the Employment Offices are solution partners are as follows;

With the ILO Supporting Decent Work Project; “110 Turks and 102 refugees for Motor Courier business”; The training of a total of 175 candidates, 58 Turks and 445 refugees for the Call Center application, was completed.

Negotiations with KFC and Mc Donalds companies started during the placement of candidates.

With the SPARK Project of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); “A total of 26 people, including 13 Turkish female candidates, 1 Syrian female-male candidates and 40 homeless citizen, were given 3-month salaries to private companies via SPARK. With the Young Talent Project, 32 young people were placed in jobs through Regional Employment Offices.
