With the renovation works carried out at the Habur Border Gate, Turkey's only border gate opening to Iraq, great conveniences were provided for vehicles and passengers. Passengers entering the country from Iraq can now perform all their transactions by passing through the 424-meter long corridor called the tunnel.
The modernization works at the Habur Border Gate, which were tendered by the Customs and Tourism Enterprises (GTİ) in 2019, were completed in 2 years.
At the customs gate, where larger and wider vehicle exit platforms were built, search hangars, control and inspection platforms, warehouses, driver's waiting room, mosque, and passenger tunnel were made more comfortable. The physical area was expanded in the customs area.
The mosque, which was built by analogy with Noah's ship, attracts attention with its aesthetic structure, and a passenger tunnel with a length of 424 meters was prepared.

According to the statistics for August 2021, the number of vehicles entering and leaving the Habur Border Gate increased compared to the previous year. While the number of vehicles entering and leaving in 2020 was 3 thousand 371 on a daily basis, this number was recorded as 2021 thousand 8 per day in the first 3 months of 709. Again, the number of passenger entries and exits, which was 2020 thousand 4 per day in 272, reached an average of 2021 thousand 8 per day in the first 6 months of 788.
At the border gate, 2018 million 1621 thousand 54 TL with 190 smuggling incidents in 026, 2019 million 997 thousand 40 TL with 208 smuggling incidents in 814, 2020 million 709 thousand 51 TL with 990 smuggling incidents in 581 and 2021 TL as of August 416. 58 million 066 thousand 949 TL of illegal products were seized with the incident.
It was stated that with the additional security measures taken at the customs area, there was a great decrease in smuggling incidents compared to previous years.
