In the exercise, a fire in the engines of an airplane that crashed per runway during landing was intervened in accordance with the scenario. A plane crash exercise was held under the coordination of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) Esenboğa Airport Directorate General.

In the exercise organized by the DHMI Esenboğa Airport General Directorate within the scope of the "Emergency Plan with Wide Participation", an airplane that had landed in accordance with the scenario crashed into the starting part of the runway.

The fire in the engines of the aircraft was extinguished by the teams of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Directorate (ARFF) and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade Department using chemical powder and foam.

AFAD teams also intervened against the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) threats against the dangerous material carried on the plane and removed it from the environment. 2 Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel and 2 passengers exposed to chemicals were taken to the hospital by ambulances.

Those trapped on the plane were rescued by AFAD, UMKE and gendarmerie search and rescue (JAK) teams and carried to ambulances after the intervention in the field tent set up in the area.

In the exercise, the passengers, who were thrown from the plane, which was divided into 2 parts, were found with the K-9 dogs and were rescued by the gendarmerie helicopter as per the scenario.

A search and rescue helicopter, 50 vehicles, 300 personnel, 7 assessment teams specialized in the field of mass casualties, and students of Yıldırım Beyazıt University and Ankara University, who were voluntarily in the role of "wounded", took part in the exercise, which was followed and coordinated by Airport Civil Administrative Chief Murat Soylu from the crisis center. took.

Akyurt District Governor Metin Selçuk, Akyurt Mayor Hilal Ayık, DHMI Operations Department Head Kürşad Özer, DHMİ Esenboğa Airport Chief Manager Yücel Karadavut and İGA Airport RFF Manager Mehmet Çalışkan followed on-site.

The aircraft model used in the exercise, which is one of the largest in terms of content, was made by the personnel of the DHMI Esenboğa RFF Directorate using 80 percent recycled materials.

The fuselage part of the aircraft, which was handcrafted by the crews, was built from an old LPG tank, and the profiles on the nose, tail and wings were built using scrap materials.

With the ongoing exercises at other airports, RFF teams increase their practical experience by applying realistic scenarios in the field and continue to improve themselves against possible emergencies.
